Kill Shots (For the predators)

In any case something, or someone will get fed.

Tis true. And don't get me wrong, I like to hunt, and kill, I just don't like wasting the meat. Here we have Hunter's for the Hungry, and there are places you can just drive up and drop off your kill. I do know a sporter here that hunts just for the antlers, never understood that, but whatever. He takes all his kills to the HH drop off, after he gets his trophies. I don't have a problem with that.

Why take the life then waste the flesh? Seems lazy to me.

Crowdog, I agree 100%. If you take it's life, then use all you can and respect the life you have taken. I see deer sometime's with the backstraps taken and the rest left to rot. I see plenty of meat on carcasses that is good food, not to mention chemical free and healthy for you too eat. We are on the same page my friend.

I am really not convinced that there is anything truly chemical free.

Read carefully what I said about desire, subjectivity, and the validity of any personal choice.

I can agree with you on that, but I think less "man made hormones, man made genetic altering" comes more to mind that chemicals.

I read a study about how the hormones they give milk cows to increase the udder size for larger harvests is making children grow breasts at an earlier age, and not just the girls, boys too. I thought it was interesting to read and it made perfect since to me. Anyone read about the genetic altering of veggies lately and the lack of nutrients found within now? I found that scary, they make veggies taste better, but no health value at all. Go figure

I really don't care if the animal I kill is "better" for me than store bought meat......all I know and care about is.....THEY TASTE BETTER!! :)

i didn't think this thread was about the morality of hunting. it was much more interesting when on the topic the title states-Kill Shots. even better, esee knives in use after the fact.

I included my opinion so I wasn’t going to deny anyone else after the fact their own say and feelings on the subject, but I agree that as fun as philosophy is I would like to see some more pictures and dialogue that may help a perspective hunter in need of a good knife make an informed decision. Also if anyone has any good recipes, post them up! I have a freezer with two deer, five freshly butchered roasters, one squirrel, and one Flemish giant rabbit that needs cooked up.

I have ZERO problems with sport hunting nuisance animals such as hogs. Zero. Kill the bastards and let them rot on site and feed the buzzards is fine by me. Luckily we don't have a problem (yet) with them on our farm, but I do that with deer here in the spring because they ravage my garden. I have friends in Texas that battle the hogs constantly. (Wait, maybe it's illegal aliens they're shooting and the hogs they're feeding...can't remember), but anyway my point being all you sacred do-gooders that think you must eat everything you kill I call bullshit on. You've never had to deal with an over-abundance of nuisance animals, you probably have never farmed a day in yoru life and probably don't weed your garden (if you ever had one). So, until youve had to deal with the problems of nuisance animals go back into your sacred little holes that you justify your killing with. ;)

WOW,
I did not mean to offend anyone with my posting. I don't consider myself a sacred do gooder. I like to share information and thought this thread was a good spot to do so about using the bones in soups and beans, it really is excellent. I accept responsibility for getting the thread off topic and meant no harm.

As for as nusiance control, that's a whole other matter as we have the same problem here with hogs. Most everyone here, myself included, likes free meat so finding someone to take it is fairly easy. The exception would be big boar hogs which are shot and disposed of if no one can be found to take them. They destroy feilds, property and in some cases peoples yards. I don't get Deer in my garden until late winter, then they will seek out my Clover cover crops however, by that time they will be tilled in soon anyway. There are some folks that have Deer crop damage spring and summer and have to take action and it is legal with a permit. There is a food bank 30 miles from me in town where they take meat for the needy. I completely understand where your coming from with nusiance control and have no issue with it.:)

It's good to know their are good hunters among you guys, I'm just an angler but I have the same morals.

I'm not easily offended and didn't get offended by ANY post on this thread. I was eluding to other "do-gooders" we have had on this forum that get bent out of shape because of killing nuisance animals. Of course they are probably the same idiots that will throw good knives :D

Now that is funny right there....don't care who you are...that is funny!!:D

Everyone has to have their own “save the world” cause of some type. For some it is not killing animals. My cousin brought his vegetarian girlfriend to Christmas dinner. I sat right next to her and ate a big old ribeye while she had a salad and a piece of bread. More power to ya sister. Don’t tread on me and you can do whatever you want. Though I would recommend a good steak.

Okay, Great!
By the way, Have many guns and knives.......... will travel for food. Anytime you have a nusiance problem, just invite a few Louisiana boy's to come help you out :D

Appreciate it, but so far the hogs haven't gotten into this area that bad...but when they do we I will let you know and we shall declare war, sir! Might even chase them down with a BK-9 and hack them to death just so we can post it on th Becker forum and watch the mass sell-off of Becker knives!

Maybe. You never know, I know Ethan has NO PROBLEMS goin' all whoopass on any animal, under any circumstances. I actually been thinking about goin' hog hunting here with my BK9, there is a Bear and Boar Association that knife hunts both.

Jeff, please do this. I would love to get my hands on a few more beckers and getting a slightly used one at a good price is cool by me. ;)

This spring I hope to take Hunters Safety so I can get my Licence. Going to go after Birds, Rabbits, Sqirrels and the like. The more pictures I see of animals being processed, the better. It helps me learn more about it.

This is a super-cool thread. I'm going to show it to my brother who hunts.....and let him decide which one he'd like.

Jeff, the offer stands. You want to stick some piggies, we have some for you to stick!!

This is a great thread, love to see this stuff so keep 'em coming.

Crowdog--Your pic exemplifies the whole hunting experience. The placement of the little one's hand on the animal's face while intently watching the processing of the meat is priceless! Demonstrates respect for the animal; learning this at such a young age is few and far between in today's culture. Kudos!
