A "good mix"???
Where is the "None of the Above" selection?
Even though there are quite a few folders that look the part, you can't trust any of them due to the pivot being an obvious and unavoidable weak spot. I would always use a fixed blade for any and all tasks that I would deem "hard use".

Also, it looks to me like a list of your favorite Cold Steel knives and a few other brand's models you could come up with off the top of your head.
CS has some great models with an great locking mechanism, but there isn't a single model in their lineup that I would prefer over something from a more upper echelon maker or brand.

Yeah I guess it’s a rule of BladeForums.. can’t please everyone and they’ll definitely b*tch about it and let you know.
It's your thread, you word it how you want... piss on the rest.

An observation though, by not providing an "other" or "none of the above" option you put members in a box so to speak which creates the problem.

Using myself as an example, I don't consider any folder suitable for hard use... just my opinion for a variety of reasons.

I prefer a fixed blade for the so called hard use applications, again, just my opinion for a variety of reasons.

(Lots of noise on this thread from those who should have just passed it by . :))

On topic : 4Max Scout version , probably the best budget / value hard use folder available .

I bought one recently for $65 shipped .

Great cheap beater that would be difficult to damage with any reasonable use .:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Very beefy , 10.2 oz , not light or compact but extremely sturdy .

Action is not quite up to the AD10 , but is very good for a Tri-ad . No lock stick problem at all .

Broad blade is not the best slicer , but better than expected . More than adequate for this type knife .

Yeah the “king of hard use” was more an attention grabber, the poll question was more to get people to pick one of these limited options as in “which of these is best”. I guess that confused some.

Good point on the fixed blade. Hard use folders might be more a novelty anyway.

What is it about this question that you have difficulty understanding? The poll question isn’t a survey of the BEST of ALL, it’s an opinion poll in which you pick ONE of the items I listed.

Read it again… very slowly… very carefully. Tell me what part you have trouble with and I’ll explain it again more thoroughly.

Sorry to break the news to you sunshine, but the thread title is part of your poll question.
There were too many knives omitted to be able to make a proper case as to which is worthy of "The Crown"

I also pose your own advice back to you.
Take a look at your reply to me..... "Read it again… very slowly… very carefully.". Maybe you will see you are behaving like a pretentious, spoiled little A-hole in response to an unoffensive, honest post that just happened to disagree with your point of view.

As a matter of fact, when I went back and read the entire thread after posting. I noticed it seems about all your responses are quite similar when faced with a contrary opinion.

As long as we're back off topic : I love Calvin and Hobbes !

It literally isn’t, that’s why there’s a title.. and then a separate “poll question”. If they were one and the same, they wouldn’t need to be separate, would they, “sunshine”?

No, I rounded up the center of the bell curve of hard use folders and even added in some requests. I don’t have time to list out 500 knives for you to pick from, and since 74 people voted, I’ll assume they “get” what you apparently do not. You and a few others seem to be more interested in whining, complaining, and stirring up drama as if my poll title personally offended you... and I really don’t care what you think of the title, honestly.

It’s incredibly ironic to go into someone’s thread, try to stir up mischief, complain about how the poll was ran, and then call someone a “pretentious spoiled little a-hole”. Who are you trying to impress here? Either answer the poll, or leave. I don’t need to listen to you whine incessantly like some little crybaby that didn’t get what he wanted. You 100% have the ability to create your own poll anytime you want… so go do it… or stick around and continue to cry. You think you’re winning anything here?

What you’ll notice is a few people that follow me around the forum and do the same thing you’re doing have commented, sure. Do you think because a few people are also crying and whining that it somehow makes you right?

So go on and get super mad, and have the last word. Your drama is slightly entertaining but I’m bored with it now.

My Kwaiback is a very solid folder, Hoback knives are generally higher in cost than a lot of other options through, more than everything on this list.

If I'm really going to beat on something I'm not going to choose a more expensive piece when something else will do.
I just don’t figure hoback’s are something most people can afford, and if they do they aren’t using them to beat on them.

I'm not that familiar with Hoback: what are the normal msrp listings for them?
