Kitchen Knife Kith - summer 2016 (Sept. 5th Deadline!)

thanks for signing up guys. I worked out a deal with my wife, this fathers day I get a nice quiet day in the shop, thats when Ill be building the knife for this Kith, or at least getting it ground out and ready to be finished. :)

Im thinking AEBL with some vintage micarta and CF fittings should be coool

Should be nice!

I was thinking of making a Nakiri with black and gold handle. I've been saving a small slab of golden wood, stack that with some ebony and a small brass plate.

I would be interested in joining in this kith. I participated in last years Christmas Kith.
Thanks

Hello everybody, this sounds like fun. I do live in Ireland, is that a problem?
Since this is my 2nd post on the forum I'll introduce myself briefly.

My name is Jelle Hazenberg. I'm from Holland living in Ireland and I've been making knives for the past 2 years. Pretty much full-time this year.

I will post a picture of some knives as soon as I figure out how to.

If because of my location I can't be included in this KITH that's no problem. I'll enjoy it from the sidelines.

I was planning to create an I'M READY thread end of July/ beginning of august. This will be where you can post a pic of your finished knife along with your information.
However, you can post work in progress pics, teaser pics, or whatever in here just to keep this popping up and fresh in our minds over the summer.
I think several of the participants are planning to work on this once summer starts. I myself wont be starting on mine for another 4 weeks.

Jelle, I am not sure how shipping knives to Ireland works or if its cost prohibitive. Let me find out some more info.

Hey Jelle I added you to the list. Thanks for participating. I am REALLY excited to start on my entry, I havnt been this excited to make a knife in a good while!

I hate to do it, but I have to admit that with a 6-month-old at home I'm badly overextended. Gonna have to pull my name from the hat. Talk to me next year after things are (hopefully) a bit less crazy town.

I'm looking forward to seeing what people come up with though!

Completely understand Metalhead, I did the same thing for the exact same reason about 2 years ago

I guess I'm the dumb one but I have to ask. What is a Kith?

Thank you. This is a great idea. If I thought I was skilled enough it would be fun. Maybe the next one.
