KITH 2005-pics

Matt, if I knew how good it was going to end up.... :D
I think having my first knife go to someone else was the best thing. It forced me to work with a time frame and made me do my best.
I'm glad you're happy with it.

Mine came from Wayne Shurbier on Saturday.1080 blade, lacewood and purple heart handle, brass hardware, hamon shows well.Tooled sheath, too.

Here are some initial so-so pics of Alan Folts' awesome knife! Hoepfully he'll share the details!

Kit, is there any chance to make this thread a sticky for awhile? At least until everyone has their KITH pics posted. Thanks.
Scott

Tom, what kind of wood is that in the handle ? I like burls as much as the next guy but that handle is terrific, especially for a first knife !!! The pattern in the handle, it's just awesome, especially for a first knife. I only hope my first real thing can come even remotely close to you.

FWIW, it looks quite similar to what i had in mind as my first self-made design (i'll post pics in Gallery when it's finished).DOn't want to rip off designs for a first :D

Thanks for the kind words Faramir.

Tha scales are book matched Bocote I got off of ebay. I'm really happy with how they turned out. The other side looks exactly like the side shown. When I first started shaping them they looked o.k....not great just o.k. then as I started on the final shaping they really began to come alive.

I drew this knife several different ways. I decide on a blade shape, then handle shape, then tweaked the ricasso area till it ended up the way I wanted it. I profiled a copy out of yard stick material...to make sure the handle felt right. Then did several more practice wooden blades with the bevels ground.

Very cool knives fellows!!

I just sent mine off yesterday ( :footinmou ) and will post photos when Marcel gets it. I got one o' them slip things from the Post Office yesterday so will be picking mine up today from Dan. :D

Will someone post a pic for me?
Thanks
Mace

All the knives look very nice......can't wait for mine to show up!

With much procrastinating, mistake making, mistake fixing, and other sundry BS I finally finished mine today. Needs a sheath, will get done today, and then mailing, which will happen tomorrow, most likely. Whew.

Here is the pic from Mace -- extremely nice work!

Thanks Michael for posting those pics for me.

I figured I would chime in and let ya all know what the specs are.

Blade is forged 1075/1080....copper guard......and stabilized spalted maple burl.........NOT stabilized,fosilized....cat poop(AKA CP-04) :D
I just hope Mark will use it for something other than guarding his socks and panties! :D

Got my knife in from Dan today -- is is a sweet blade! It may be too purty to use. I'll try and snap some pics tomorrow morning.

Thanks Dan. :)

I still need to finish the sheath. Will do so this weekend and send the knife on it's way on Monday morning. I apologize for the delay, but business constraints have kept me from the shop. Thanks for understanding.

O.K. !!!
Matt got my knife today. So It's time to post pics.
This is my very first knife.
Tom! Man for a first knife - hell, for a fiftieth knife! - that's a beauty!!! I'm not usually a jealous person but I'm going to find out where Matt lives and wait until he's sleeping...and have that bad boy for myself! Naw, just kidding. I'm too chicken to be a burgler. :D But I am jealous! Beautiful work.
