KITH - "I'm In" - For those interested in participating.

I was in Scott's christmass exchange last year and has a blast. I'd like to join in this one too, but the "general range of 200 dollars" is troubling. I'm getting better but don't think I have the skills to do that yet. I'm assuming this is a replacement as I recall Scott not wanting to do it again.

So i guess I'll post as interested, but we'll see if i can come up with something pretty enough first. This is open to Canadians right? or should we do our own little sub KITH.

Of course Canadians are welcome! And I wouldn't worry about the price tag. That was just a general guideline. It's for Christmas and you can't put a price on a gift ;)

I'm in, and will have a knife completed by December 1st.

...I've been sitting out, but this year I'll give it a go. If what I come up with isn't pretty enough I'll withdraw.

Last year I got some genuine Christmas joy and a great hunting knife from this so I'm in again. Thanks Stacy for stepping up to the challenge.

“I’m In - I will make a knife by December 1,2009.” This will be my first KITH and I'm really looking forward to it. I have some 1084 coming from Aldo, so some one is getting something forged.

Thanks Stacy. I'm in again! I will make a knife for this purpose by December 1, 2009.

I wouldn't worry too much about this -- IMHO it's more a guideline for style and for those who make knives that see for many times 200 dollars, not a barrier for those of us near the bottom of the curve.

How about us that are below the curve?:o I have not sold any for more than $120.00. I am working at creating one worth 200, but my skill level isn't their yet. would ths exclude me? If so then maybe those that don't feel up to par could be in a diffrent hat?? I dunno. I am getting that awkward feeling I used to get when we would shower after Phys ed class.:o:D

Don't worry, those feelings are normal....not that there's anything wrong with that :D Don't worry about, my average knife price is around $120 and I can't tell you how much fun this really is. Just take a leap of faith and do it!

I think I'm going to wait until next year to do this. I just wouldn't feel right taking a $200 blade for my $50 blade (I'm guessing I'll be at about $50 blades by December). When does the sign-up for this thing end?

I didn't mean ...uh well I am not uhhhh I didn't have anything to be ashamed of, but a friend of mine uhhh.:D Nevermind:rolleyes: Ok I'll take the leap.

Wasn't very clear, was I? I haven't sold a knife for $200 either. Don't let it worry you; make the best knife you can and everyone will be happy.

This'll be my third year and no one complained about my previous entries.

do I have to be able to etch my name on the blade? I dont have any equipment for that, although I do have an engravor.

Dan has it right. The $200 thing is a guide to let some makers know the range. The thing to do is make the best knife you are able to make. If it is not a $200 knife, that is fine. The amount is more of limit to the older makers than the new guys. Many of us regularly sell a $2000 knife, but would make a simple drop point hunter, or bird and trout knife for this exchange (worth $200-$400).Others make what they can. The value is not the point of this exchange.

As I always say, I would love to have Bill Moran's first knife...I bet he didn't think it was worth anything either.

Just make a knife and we will all have a good time with this.

The sign up officially starts Oct. 1 and ends Dec. 1. This thread is just to get people on board and interested. If you don't feel you have a knife that is ready by Dec. 1, then don't post it in the "I'm Ready" post this fall.
