Kizer 5404a2

I think that is just a rumor. I have never seen anything proving that CPM actually sells steel to Kizer. The steel on many of the Kizer knives almost looks like a molded form with a course or rough finish on some of the S35v blades. I would like to see a copy of an actual testing lab's report. I'm afraid we will find out that these are really a nice surgical stainless steel that is mislabeled.

Or maybe they are selling blemished, stained, or inferior S35v steel blades.

The old saying is, "If something seems to good to be true, it probably is not".

Crucible seems to think Kizer is at least buying S35VN. And given that there are a number of reviews, some by pretty darn well respected people, on the knives I think your skepticism is baseless.

gotta say the rainbow titanium side looks even better up close!

again, at $105 it can't be beat!

So far, I've owned two Kizer's. First one was a 405. Came off center and had lots of blade play, so I returned it. The second was the 3404a2. It was beautiful, flawless. However, the handles were very slick and I just couldn't get past the tip down only clip. I traded it.

Now that Kizer finally has some tip-up options, I'm looking at them again. I think the 423 is very interesting, and the flashbang is cool as well. My question is for those of you with the high end Kizer's, is the quality there compared to say the Taichung Spyderco's?

$109 for the 423 seems reasonable, but at $180 plus for a Chinese knife I start to wonder.

They're not that good imo. Those Taichung Spydies are just ridiculous!
But, bear in mind, the Taichung Spydies, for what you get are imo, as good or better a deal than the Kizer.
Imo, Spyderco Taichung is a whole nother level.
That's just my two pennies though :)
I do like my Spydies.......A Lot.

Did you buy a Ki302F, Chris? I've been looking at that one myself. I've got a Ki3404A3 and I love it!

I ordered the Ki404B1.

I do wish Kizer would name their different models, trying to keep all these model numbers straight is crazy.

Awesome. Let us know what you think of it when it arrives. :)

Will do, tracking has it tomorrow or Thursday. Looking forward to it, it's my 4th Kizer, but the first one that's not in the Justin Gingrich designed 'GTi" series.

Wow, went on my lunch break, came back and the Kizer's are no longer on sale at BHQ. Damn.

No doubt.....Mine went up to $134.95, which in all actuality is better than the original price of I believe $179
Or, that might have been KW.

If everything for Kizer is going just ducky then why are all these knives suddenly on sale at vg10, g10- FRN prices? It doesn't calculate. It would be like a Sebbie selling for $180.

Who said it was all going well for them? Also, from what it sounds like BHQ was having a liquidation sale and it sounds like it may have been on discontinued models.

First off, it's only 20 models at one retailer I've checked a few others I buy from and they haven't been clearing out any.

Retailers often closeout models for lots of reason, new models coming in, especially just after SHOT Show. One model Kizer that was out of stock, at this same retailer last week and I had set an email notice for when it would be back in stock, I got the email this morning That it's back.

Maybe these are second run blems sale, or for some reason old junk that is just not selling at BHQ 's normally very reasonable prices. They seem to be taking a very large hit. Sounds almost like a going-out-of-business sale to me, I wish I saw such large discounts on some other discontinued products.

Or maybe this is people speculating about something they know nothing about. Whatever the reasons may be, I'd suggest folks strike while the iron is hot. BHQ's discounts may not last very long.

They already rose the price :D

I suspect they're on their last pieces on some models. Got the last 2.5" Kizer GTi folder they had in stock.

Mine is actually quite nice :)

My Ki404B1 came about 2 hours ago, absolutely flawless, will try to get some pics up later. A little stiff to open, but gets better the more I flip it, but my first Kizer GTi was the same way, and now it's slick as glass, so i will let this one break in the same way.

Only thing I'd change is make the pocket clip reversible for us lefties, other than that it's great.

That's great news man. Please, feel free to post up some pics when/if ya get a chance.

I think partially what may have happened is that when Kizer started out with a tip-down only clip design on most of their knives, and has now produced a "second generation" with tip-up or 2 position clips, hence why the original designs are on sale. Could be a number of things.
