Whenever, there is a limited edition or short run knife to be produced.....I read about how people say they want to buy three or four. Some give an excuse-"to pass on to others" yet I see these same forumites posting these knives on the exchange.

How about we all get a shot at it? Instead of some buying the lot. GPK, KC, BHQ and others if you view this thread please enforce this rule on rare and LE knives, your customer base will grow as well.

I pretty much think they already do, not that it would be my business to tell them how to run theirs.

why do you want to cut out someone else buying?? I think first come first serve. if you see something you like then buy it right away. they are in business to make money right?? maybe I am not just reading your post right. please help me understand it better.

It is pretty annoying when you really want a knife and you can't find it except in the exchange. Then you see people post pics in threads that have like 5 of the one you want or 5 of each sprint run. I use all my knives so I guess I'm just different than some. But hey, whatever floats your boat u guess. It would be nice for like a 2 per limit tho...

^^^ This. Sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes you don't. I found a black/satin Para 2 at the Knifeworks booth at Blade. I wasn't really looking for one, but I got lucky. Should I have passed it up because someone had been looking for one longer than me, or wanted one more badly than I did?

It's kinda like parking places. When I see one close to the door, I'd like to leave it for someone who needs it more than I do, but if I don't take it, someone else will, and possibly someone who is not as gracious as I am. :D

Don't even bother. We already tried but some people just think their opinions should be of more weight than others.

I am all in favor of capitalism, but you don't need 5 of the same knife. The dealers know you are only going to flip them in that case, and should limit you to 2 so the people who buy knives to actually use them can get one too.

That's not the topic, did you buy every one they had just because you wanted to? Im sure you didn't buy every last PM2, because that would be just silly :) the op is talkin about people buying shit tons of sprints just to turn around and sell them for more. Screwing some people over. Not everyone can buy a knife on the drop of a dime, takes a few days/weeks sometimes. That's why their should be a limit, so people can't buy ooodle amounts just to sit on or sell for more.

Well, then you're not really in favor of capitalism my friend. I don't have more then one of any type of knife; however, please allow me to play devil's advocate here. Who are you to determine how many knives, of any type, someone else should have? I can certainly appreciate the sentiment behind the OP but this ^^ statement seems a little presumptuous IMHO. To each thier own, I guess.

Maybe I've misunderstood then. But if I were a dealer, it wouldn't matter much to me how many someone bought. Limiting people to just one would kind of defeat the purpose of me being in business, wouldn't it? I don't really care how many someone buys. If they got there first, then good for them.

The entitlement mindset is annoyingly present nowadays.

I was buying case knives from a supplier (about 20 years ago ) these where first production run limit 500. I bought a dozen of each one. they had another person on the phone waiting to see what I was going to get because he bought everything else of the case knives. he has that right. at lease I Believe he does. I am no longer selling. due to health.

Why should a dealer decide how many knives of a certain model I can buy?

I live far from the US in a country where importing goods, even in small numbers, is complicated. So when I see something I like, I usually get a few. Sometimes I keep them as spares, sometimes I give them out to friends and I've even sold a few to finance my own purchases.

It's annoying when you can't find a knife you really want, or its only available on the secondary market with a hefty price tag. I can completely understand that, but I don't think limiting the freedom of other knife buyers is the answer. Perhaps it's just that I've got a very bad experience with rationing and such (in supermarkets down here you can see signs telling you how much flour or meat you're allowed to buy per person). I don't like other people deciding what I need or what I don't need.

Damn right he has the right to do so, this is America! I like to buy every gallon of milk and sit out front and sell it for double. Its a great gig I got goin on, just because I can. But seriously, people talk about how great the knife community is and this is always happening. If people want 5 of each sprint run just to look at then good for those douche bags I guess. A knife is a tool and ment to be used plan and simple. If your trying to get rich flipping knives, you're in the wrong business.

Those are terrible examples. He's talking about limited editions and sprints. In your scenario there would be 10 parking spots and you would take ALL of them. Forever.

Glad to see someone else can interpret what they read! I don't care about production blades, buy all you want.... we are talking about LIMITED runs.
