Knife Fails!

Big sharp knives that you juggle, eventually you'll cut yourself (experience)
XD I'm a freaking idiot

+1 GOD FORBID someone have something bad to say about CRK or Spyderco on this forum. I'm starting to see that a differing opinion is considered trolling.

I have recently realized that on the forums it is very important how you say something. If you had a bad experience and you are honestly looking for an explanation or a solution to your problem, I rarely see those threads go bad.

On the other hand, if you are only looking to argue or spread your bad attitude, well... you are going to have a bad day. It is especially bad when someone is obliviously trolling.

You just now noticed this?

Also, I've never seen a group of people get their feelings hurt so easily since the 2nd grade, lol.

Compare:

1. An OP posts about an experience with a brand of knife. He is not happy with that experience. He gets jumped by fans of that brand.

2. An OP simply declares -- with no description of experience or any reasons at all -- that a particular brand or style of knife is trash/junk/to be avoided/"fail."

Now list all the facts/experiences the OP presented as to why stick tang choppers, knives from Idaho, and knives sans guards or finger choils are "fails."

Let's hear some knife fails.

IMO

- Anything other than full tang on a big chopper (8 inches or more). Sooner or later that thing is gonna break (experience).
- Idaho Made printed on an expensive knife. Idaho, really?
- Knives with slick handle materials with no finger choil or guard. Sooner or later you'll cut your fingers (experience).

Just having fun here.

I thought this was going to be a thread recounting actual failures of knives and not a list of features you don't like on certain knives. You should rename the thread to "Features you dislike about certain knives".

With respect, I wouldn't say you were "hurting" anyone's feelings. It's just that this particular hobby involves being technical and therefore it matters what and how you word or phrase something. I can see how some people may be "concerned" or have issue with what is being written. For example, referring to "Idaho Made stamped on an expensive knife" as being a fail. Personally, I don't mind the Idaho stamp, nor do I care for it, but I wouldn't regard it as a "fail".

To each his/her own. :D

It's funny how some of us are with where our knives were manufactured. Where do you think your smartphones, tablets & computers were made? Oh yeah, but I guess no one really cares about that. I don't care if a knife says Idaho, USA, Taiwan, China...let people use them and review them and then form an educated opinion.

No knife needs a guard, a choil, a full tang, or anything other than something to hold and something to cut. To say otherwise ignores thousands of years of history. Not that this is surprising.
