Knife guessing game ( based on description ) now guessing fixed blades

Dang. I got so into figuring out the answer that I forgot it would mean I had to go again.

(Side note: I think we might need a list of all the knives that have been used in this thread so far to avoid duplicates. :D)
...

Barrett, here's an update of a list that was posted several pages back.

Here I am suggesting (somewhat jokingly) that someone make a list, and turns out you were about 5 days ahead of me on that one! :D (Not really sure how I missed that post before, to be honest, but good work, GT!)

I believe this is still the active clue, figured I'd bring it up to this page:

Alright, this classic folding knife would be right at home slicing some fromage or cutting up a baguette, and in its homeland, the designation for the particular model I have in mind would rhyme with an English word for an food staple that's pretty essential if you want to make a baguette.

Lets see ... time ... flour ... h2o ... yeast ... egg ... olive oil (or butter) ... sesame seeds ... whisk ... rolling pin ... pan ... oven ... can't think of anything knife related that rhymes with something needed to make a baguette ... or am I forgetting an ingredient or tool?

At first I thought Opinel, but that don't fit the clue.

Reread the clue and realized I was wrong... Still thinking.

You're on the right track! The rhyming English word (heck, it's really a homophone) is not an exact ingredient in a baguette, but rather the thing from which one of the ingredients you listed is derived. Also, note that I said the "designation" of the model, not the name. I wouldn't really say these knives have model names so much as… well, I'll give it a little longer and if no one gets it, I'll give another clue.

Ah ouais! Opinel huit /No.8 wheat

Correctamundo!

You're up!

Wow! Congrats, Will, for figuring that out, and Barrett, for dreaming up such an enigmatic, cool puzzle!:thumbup:
Being linguistically challenged, I didn't have much of a chance on that one. (On the other hand I was asking myself questions like, "Does he mean something like if the knife was a fictitious "BladeMaster 31", the Three-One might rhyme with Wheat Bun?":D)

Huit is Creole at least (and likely French) for the number 8.
When it is pronounced it sounds like "sweet" but with an "H" in place of the "S", which lends to the rhyming with "Wheat".

Pease keep in mind that my pronunciation is likely off due to my only encounter with French and Creole language comes from work with a Very diverse work force and a lot broken English.

It makes it easier to learn what I can of their languages to ease the days work (on both side of the conversation) when they can understand what I require of them.

It makes it easier ... (on both side of the conversation) when they can understand what I require of them.

My friend, this holds true even when all the parties speak the same language. "Misunderstandings" are, unfortunitally, common, no matter what language is used in the workplace. :(

The only good baguettes I've had were in France, the recipe doesn't travel. Maybe it's the ble/flour? Great stuff when you can get it.

OK the next object is...

Always double bolster, never Barehead, a Jack with two equal blades and poisonous associations....

Ahh, ok.
Thanks

How about this, nothing to crazy from me this time.

This pattern would be at home lending a Hand to a cowboy or a rancher.
For Will Power:
This knife too has an equine affiliation.
