Knife guessing game ( based on description ) now guessing fixed blades

Great guess Jake, but nope.

Unbranded you venture away from the herd.

Brian, I didn't even know this knife existed until moments ago, but I now am quite confident that I might have the answer!

I was trying to make a Vic Pioneer fit your free thinker or lone wolf clues, but it didn't seem like an exact fit and I had nothing for the Firebird. But I came to this thread to make the "wild guess" anyway.

But then I read your clue in the preceding post (a clue that I'd originally thought was just a strange sig line :o) about unbranded, and moving from the herd, and I thought "maverick" and then the Firebird suddenly clicked: James Garner played one of the Maverick bros, and he played Rockford and I'll bet my bottom dollar his car was a '76 Firebird, wasn't it?? And then, to my complete consternation, I saw your real sig line with your "Wanted" request; have you always been after a GEC Maverick, or did you recently insert that just to toy with the rest of us???

Anyway, Maverick is my guess, and all I can say to you is, "Well-played, sir!"

Man James garner is one of my all time favorite actors, but I guess I'm just not smart enough to have figured it out.
Even if that's not the answer you should win the whole game just for even coming up with that answer.

Thanks, H & S. :) I had nothing, and then all of a sudden it all fell into place; I'm pretty pleased and can go to bed happy! :D

Yup, that's it GT, well played yourself. Funny, your Sherlock like deducing skills even caught it my sig. which in all honesty I'd completely forgotten about.:o :D(consciously anyway).

Ok, you're up again.

OK, this will probably be as unchallenging as the others I've posed, but some of us appreciate an occasional easy one. ;)

This knife is a downsized version of a larger pattern. It has an equal-end frame with bolsters, usually under 3", 2 blades (typically spear and pen) in a pen configuration. The name one famous US maker gives this pattern alludes to vegetables, immaturity, and dairy products.

Ok, next up,

If you were to whittle one of these yourself, the exercise you'd get would be not much less than that which you'd get from using the finished product.

It would be a huge exercise to whittle as well as use a canoe, I know that a schrade example has already been shown, but it wasn't described so they're still available

That's it H&S, the Canoe. Now that you remind me, GT's "Schrade without a shield" didn't register in my mind when thinking of the canoe, I guess because the word didn't appear, otherwise I would've chosen something else.:o
I certainly wouldn't whittle one!

Back to you Hickory

Finally it's my turn again! I hope this will be a hard one.

This knife stands tall but isn't, and could help you quench your thirst in a pinch.

I have no clue about Hickory n steel's newest turn, but I thought the exchange of posts above was kind of ironic, given that I actually started whittling a canoe (not full size, of course ;)) last summer! Can you see why the piece of wood near the top of this photo just begged me to whittle a canoe? I was also vacationing in a lakeside cottage at the time. Haven't finished the project yet; it spent all winter in the door pocket of my car, and I haven't worked on it since September. :(

The only stuff I've never really whittled were some Xmas trees last December.
Those were pretty easy though.
