Knife or Death

Obviously, I couldn't do anything like that anymore, but it is kind of surprising how winded some of the competitors are. One would think that they would prepare for the event. Didn't they watch the first season?

Also, IMHO, some of the blade choices are rather poor. (I.E. Stupid.) Well, they got their 15 minutes of fame, I guess.

You obviously seen me sucking wind. I had 11 days from the time I was told I was going to be on the show to the time I got on the plane. I'm a groundskeeper by trade so not the most exhausting work but not a desk job, I work outside in Missouri heat in the middle of July with high humidity. Like stated before it's a abandoned warehouse with all the windows and doors closed.
I do not work out and new my cardio would catch me a little bit and that was a risk I took. Yeah sure I could have trained from the day I turned my application in but I have a wife, 2 kids, full time job, coach my sons flag football team and make knives every free minute I get so I wasnt about to start training just dont have time in my life, I practice my cuts and chopping instead.
I like the fact everyone is kind of either out of shape, average people from all walks of life. If I wanted to watch people in shape I would watch American Ninja Warrior..lol
Please dont take offense to this post just wanted you to know where a competitor like me is coming from.

Same here too. With kids, work, extracurricular activities, I would go swing at my wood pile to build up some strenth, but like you, I got short notice. Plus, it was an obstacle course that we had never seen before, so you couldn't really prepare for it. Add in the 100+ temps on the 12 hour day of filming and you've got many variables. This course is a combination of skill, endurance and luck.

You did an awesome job, J Justin Presson ! I’m currently training for a marathon, run 40+ miles per week, and even I got a bit winded after one of the obstacles. There really is no “training” for the show.

Me? Take offense? Ain't gonna happen. :D There is nothing bad anyone could say about me that will hurt my feelings. I don't have any.

Thanks for the info. I heard about the temperature in the warehouse, but I didn't realize that you were given such short notice. I wonder if the producers do that on purpose. Maybe they don't want athletes showing up, but some of the competitors are supposed to be martial artists.

Speaking of which, I wonder how well Goldberg and Lam could do? ;)

Several years ago I got into a discussion about real sword fighting. From what I read, swinging a 3 pound sword is a lot of work and a fight when swords were the main weapon, would not last much longer than 3 minutes. One of those German two hand swords might weigh around 7 pounds. I am surprised when I see someone show up with something like that.

2 of the guys on my show were personal trainers. One guy got edited out of the episode which sucks.
I know ol Goldberg was still in pretty damn good shape and Tu is jacked more then I thought. Travis got to do some of the obstacles and you see him in some of the shots, my money would be on him if all 3 went head to head.

Just got done watching your episode, Congrats:thumbsup: you did GREAT
Anybody who doesn't think this course would not test their Cardio system is BADLY MISTAKEN or has NEVER Chopped for prolong periods
A World Class athlete would be sucking for air after completing this course;)

This Show seems to be better than I remember! Got the Recorder set for all up-coming episodes as a result:D

^ very well said TG. For instance MTM is an avid Marathon runner how has participated in at least 2 Big Ms if my memory serves me correctly, by Jeannie's own account. I'd be interested to see as to how MTM's cardio holds up doing the course in the next KoD broadcast (S2-E3). As both Jonny and Jeannie have alludes to, but could not go into the details before their respective epis, we have an idea that what we view is just a snippet of the over all run which happens to be heavily edited to make it good and interesting viewing. Further, the ambient temperatures were reported so high and it was so humid in there as opposed to when Jo did her run in S1 when it was freezing and the participants' goggles kept fogging up!

I am sure that being in very good cardio shape is going to give a definite added advantage and there's little doubt about that but when you combine strength, technique and cutting mastery to endurance and ultimately good fortunes; now that's hallmark of the Champion who also happens to possess the most suited blade ;)

Good memory you’ve got there, Casinostocks Casinostocks ! :)

I have completed two marathons and will be doing my 3rd in less than 8 weeks. I’m very thankful that I was heavily into my training when I competed on KoD. Lol!

I remembered that because of the lower case letters in your Roman numerical tattoo as you had explained, i.e, the 2 x i ;)

That explains the calm in the pic, lol. Everyone else is trying to perform, while being gassed, and you're just going, "just extra cardio training... ok".
