+1 to DD for the transparency, fairness, and the awesome pics!!

-1 to the name-calling and dramatic escalation, unfortunately. Lots of people were already rushing to support. Doesn't really matter who's right or wrong, no one should be standing in Jerry's house trashing his customers. Some people are bummed, they'll get over it, be cool.

For me, if Busse says the rule of the trough is there are no rules, fair enough. Does anyone really expectJerry to tell some of his biggest customers, with HUUUUGE wads of cash, to go piss off  :D

Opinions on what you like, don't like, what you like to see are for the most part, fine. But let's keep it in perspective.

I scored a Bama clay Hellrazor from dericdesmond's for sale thread. I thought what he did for those of us that didn't go to Blade was awesome. He didn't have to make those knives available for the price he did and he didn't twist anyone's arm to buy them. Just like it was my choice to buy his knife or go to eBay and pay 100%+ over retail for one of LK's knives.

Eric is a stand up guy in my book and an asset to the forum.

I picked up one of the blades offered from blade show and I'm super stoked. I'm a single dad and could not pull away from work to go play right now. I'm thankful these guys brought offerings here at a fair price and gave us a shot. If they made a buck great they spent the time and effort to go. I'm thankful they thought of us here on blade forums.

Thanks guys maybe next year I can make it.

Nope I paid less and am making a small % due to the "show special cost" that busse gives those who like me invested $1500+ in goin. Dont be fooled, I offered them at sticker cost that you will get if busse ever decides to have a ganza and I stated just that. Most know they cost a little less at the show and Ill never deny that.

My mistake and inexperience... Ya bastid!! ;)

Seriously, though, I thank you, even though I haven't bought anything.

And oge I swear you do this all the time. You know damn well where these threads are headed when you post them.

I asked for picture's. As well as said "Business is business", "I am not knocking it". Attending blade is not in my near future. I miss seeing all the table shot's with knives, before they get sold.

I was drinking a good bit last night. Not an excuse, just how I was feeling at the moment.

This has been one serious discussion, I can see both sides of the coin. I for one did buy one of Eric's knives and have no complaints(quite the opposite). If I did attended the show I could see being disappointed not being able to fondle more knives then what is directly in front of me at the time. I think everyone has made some good arguments on both sides as stated before it is ultimately up to Jerry how to handle his business. Maybe Jerry will read through these threads and decide to make changes maybe not, but I doubt he will be interested if so much negativity prevails in these threads. Taking time to look at all the different opinions and keeping things constructive I believe is the path to progress.

Okay this thread definitely blew up a bit today, which I believe is in some part due to my comments about Lui Kang and his crew snatching up a lot of blades and banging them around in the process. I just want to clarify what upsets me about him is not the fact that he sells Busse's for a lot of money, it's the fact that he is a liar and a scammer. He did not get booted from BF for charging people a lot of money for knives. There are other sellers on this forum that are well respected and charge a premium, but they are honest about the condition about what they are selling. Nobody is forcing people to buy the knives he sells on the bay, and the only way to make him go away is for people to stop buying his knives. I was also certainly not bad mouthing dericdesmond, he is a really nice guy that I spoke with a couple different times at Blade and enjoyed doing so.

It is absolutely not Busse's responsibility to make sure everybody gets the exact blade that they want at Blade Show. The not knowing is part of the excitement. Yeah, it kind of sucks watching Lui Kang buy dozens of knives, but there are a lot of opportunities to get great knives at the Busse booth. I kept several of the offering cards for myself, and I kept some for the few people that I was acting as a proxy for, but I personally gave away at least 15 cards to people that wanted them but weren't able to grab the card. I was certainly not the only one giving cards away. People will go a bit crazy diving for a card and aggressively snatching it up, only to stand up and give it to the person next to them with a smile.

Lastly, if you are thinking of going to Blade Show only for the Busse booth to get one particular knife, I think you are kind of missing the point. Don't get me wrong, the Busse booth is certainly one of the main draws for me, but there are hundreds of other vendors to see that are worth visiting, blacksmithing and other events going on outside, and you can even watch the World Championship Knife Cutting Competition. There is a huge amount to do, a huge amount to see, plenty of good food nearby, and a huge amount of camaraderie to be had on the show floor, at the after events, and in the famous pit at the Renaissance Waverly. Blade Show is an experience, and in my opinion a great one!

Genuinely upsets me that I would tick off anyone but whiny entitled babies in the trough. I love to play and be agressive, its what busse advocates however not many of us would ever be ok with someone making the show just to leave empty handed esp the little ones. If ever I or any of the other people who I know for a fact are willing to help in any way please never be shy, seriously.

I have personally seen, on more than one occasion, this man "dericdesmond" give a card, trade a card, or take a knife out of his box to give to someone he knows was looking for one.

That huge table was full three times. Once the chain dropped (the first time was 10 minutes after the VIPs were allowed in) they didn't last 20 minutes each time. People that were not there when the chain dropped did not see the multitude of knives that a lot of people bought. Yes several people bought a lot...I will neither defend nor put them down. No regrets.....

In the end Busse is to blame (yes I know that's sacrilege around these parts but it is the truth), their business model allows blades to be bought and then resold for massive profit and they haven't put any restrictions in place to prevent people reselling.

You can't blame profiteers (well you can but it would be pointless), if not Lui Kang some other scumbag will fill his shoes, in the buy/sell a guy called dericdesmond has put 60+ knives from blade up for sale, so it's not just one person.

And you can't blame the people buying them, all Busse's are limited run items. So supply is low and demand is high, if you want one you really have to just get it where you can.

In the end I think it's up to Busse to look after their customers and not let these people get away with it, put a restriction on purchases per person at blade and have the known re sellers banned from the forums so they can't peddle their wares as easily.

I'm going to end this on one note...

Busse= Ethical Captalism
Dericdesmond, georgecatl, knife hunter= Ethical Captalism
Liu Kang= Capitalism...sans the ethics. Sure hope Busse won't be stuck with refinishing all that scratched satin...but if they aren't, then scratched and damaged he will sell, and when the Buyer complains, he will tell them to call Busse about it...after price gouging.

That's it, end of story. Folks, please don't make me lock this thread.

Eric, had I noticed quicker, I'd have been in the queue for a deal, myself. Thank you for the chance! :)

Some thrive on the HOG on HOG on piglet trough warfare...

I can take it or leave it...

I'm a GANZAAAA guy...really miss those :(

Agreed 1000000%

Unfortunately, that is true. Lui Kang was there with a few of his people and they each swarmed the table, spread their arms out, and literally gathered up a very large pile of knives, not caring about banging the satin blades into each other during the process. It really bothered me.

Every one of us decide how we conduct ourselves personally and professionally.. naturally the law of cause and effect will form our reputation.. but we also get to choose where we do or dont send our money. I love how capitalism works.. if someone goes around rubbing people wrong ..they are firing themselves slowly.

My 2 cents... Dericdesmond is one of the good guys. He often sells at the sticker price so that's without a huge markup. It costs to travel to Blade and takes a lot of time to acquire, photograph, list, work out deals, package, ship, and follow up. It's fine to make a few bucks and a few sellers play a nice role in making sure that those that could not go to Blade have a decent chance to score a knife at a reasonable price.

Gonna self-edit this baby before dropping something here I shouldn't. Dericdesmond, forget about it bro. 99.9% of us get it

Actually, dericdesmond is one of the good guys. He is not a profteer; on the contrary, one year I was not able to go to Blade, and he sold me three different models that I might not have gotten even if I had made it.

It's folks like him who offset the lui kangs of the world, because they buy stuff off the market before he can get to it, then make it available for a good price. Please don't lump dericdesmond in with the likes of kang.

Agreed, it's important we realize that this situation is in no way on the level of a scam or anything of the sort. And this "making a profit" should never be frowned upon imho.
Nobody is holding a gun to anyone's head to pay what he is asking and I see that his knives "are" selling...he would undoubtedly sell more if he had lower prices..he knows that, and it's up to him to decide where he finds that balance. But as with any business in the free market, if you piss off customers it damages your reputation and business. Capitalism works through cause and effect. I'm a huge college football fan..my Utes football have sold out season tickets for going on 8 years now an you just CAN'T get tickets... I found that a several individuals with small "buy local tickets" businesses secured 20+ season tickets in the best spots an sell them for 3-5 times the regular price each year. They were quick to secure them 8 years ago and bought them fair an square...but it pissed me and others off a LOT!! It's no scam but it leaves a bad taste in people's mouth.. if the way he does business rubs enough people wrong, it will effect his reputation and people will stop buying from him. You can't make money without serving someone.. and as long as his knives are selling, he is offering someone means of acquiring Busse knives. If I forked out the cash to ho to blade an saw this i wouldnt ike it either but it's no crime.

Lol I helped more people get what they wanted at blade show this weekend then you have posts. I said it once and Ill say it again, PISS OFF NEWB : )

You really are a loser through and through, so self centered and concerned with trying to make a name for yourself on an internet forum. You come on here and act like you're some kind of saint "helping" people, you're a classic egomaniac that has to feel important, chucking a little bitchfit at some guy who was disappointed that he spent $1000 to go and buy his brother a deployment present, but couldn't because people like yourself were so eager to "help" people by buying up all the stock.

Congratulations buddy you got your wish, I will piss off, so that's one "NEWB" (Yea sorry I have a job and a life which prevents me from spending all day posting on a forum), that you've driven away.

Also to the DD nuthuggers -- Don't bother replying, I won't read it.
