Knife suggestion (for me, not from me)

I looked at a Dozier at SMKW, and it didn't seem very flick-able to open it. Can it be adjusted to work like that?

I don't find most thumb hole knives with lock-backs too flick-able. If you want flick-able, forget the thumb hole and look at Kershaw's with flippers given your price range. If you can spend more, like double your max price, the Spyderco Para-military has the hole and is quite flick-able, but then again it's got G10 handles:rolleyes:

You can't be too picky, especially when you’re on such a tight budget.

Dang Cold Kill, you're getting a little carried away on what you'll accept as a suitable folder for a price of $20-$30, with a firm cap of $50.

You've been shot 3 pages worth of very nice suggestions and now it has to be a "flick knife?" I can flick a Rat-1 or a Tenacious open with my thumb - I don't know what you mean - maybe it's that - a little push and some wrist action will flick most knives open.

What do you want for $20/$30 - that's pizza money dude.

Does the Spyderco UK Penknife (BD1 steel) perform well, compared to a VG-10 steel knife like the Delica 4? I can get it for cheaper, and the blade is slightly longer. I don't really need the lock, so it's a feature that cost more for most knives.

^+1 seriously, budget a day's pay. Then pick up an extra shift. For 65 shipped you can get a full flat ground VG-10 Delica in blue, black, pink, brown, green or stainless. The absolute best buy near your price range.

I should also note that I have decided I am going now for a higher end knife, almost definitely a Spyderco (bouncing between the Delica 4, Centofante III, and UK Penknife; the high end steels are the real appeal, coupled with the thumb hole). Sorry for me changing my mind half a million times, I do intend to eventually get a Ka-Bar Dozier, and a RAT-1, just not now (so many people recommending them can't be wrong). Sorry again, I know this forum is making me come off as a bit of a dick, I just put too many criteria, then had too many options presented in front of me for said criteria to remain the same.

Are you sure you're not female?

Well, unlike most people, apparently, I like to make an informed and wise decision when I am spending my own money. If I don't know basically every aspect of a product I wish to purchase based on the suggestion of another, I will found out those aspects. I usually won't buy a knife without being able to hold one in my hand a check it out myself, but I feel the people here know more than I do about knives. Hence me asking for suggestions and opinions. Calling me a female for wanting to be an informed buyer is plainly childish.

Man, take my word and scratch the Centofante III off your list. It's onl;lu suitable for letter opening and string cutting. It's very light, so much so that the lock reflects it.

I checked mine the other day by holding the tip in a towel and flexing the blade up and down. The whole lock mechanism would rise up & down in the handle.

I consider it, a junker - at it's price point. Maybe for $20 or so it would be a fair buy but at $50'ish run away!!

I'm not going back thru the entire thread to see if it has been read or not so here goes. Get a Sebenza now, don't ever log into BF again and you can sleep well knowing you have what a good percentage of people consider to be the best production folder on the market.

With those choices I would go for the Delica. There are a lot of them out there that are EDC'd and are going strong after many years. I actually prefer the sabre ground Delica myself. Just never good get used to the fragile nature of anything FFG.

You're not thumb flicking an FRN UKPK my friend. Just stop the shennanigans and get the Delica already.

Yeah you're certainly "unlike most people," you beautiful and unique snowflake, you ;) Yeah, you come in here and make everyone else do all the thinking for you. READ MORE, POST LESS. Do your own damn research instead of posting ridiculous criteria and price caps.

OR you could put those soft pretty hands of yours to good work. Some of us could use a rub down from all the work they've done for you, ma'am.

So you start a post, get folks to spend their time on suggestions, and then flip-flop on page 3? You sure post some funny stuff. :D

In response to your original post, Ka-Bar Dozier.
Also check the Web Specials on Buck's web page.
The Bucklites are quite nice for the cash, and you can put a $5 thumbstud on there if you must flick it open.

I can get the Endura 4 for the same price as the Delica 4. Is there a real difference between the two other than blade length?

It's a knife. You use it to cut things. Every knife from $1 - $∞ will do the same thing. lol
