Knifeaholics Anonomous

It was suggested to me that I not quit smoking for another year.

:D

I really weened myself off both. I was down to two cigarettes a day. So I haven't had any cravings so far.

Pretty off topic, but I love how they put that phone number colemn on those sheets when there's no way most people would ever put that kind of info on there. I stick with my first name and an unledgable sig when I sign em.

Woke up one day and realized I had 70lbs of SAKs and 12 year old tennis shoes.......

......and it didn't even faze me.

.

Knives can be very addictive to those of us that might have addictive personalities. Knife buying and materialism can become a serious issue especially financially.Kind of like chasing the knife dragon. You might be able to identify some red flags with examples like:hiding your purchases and CC/bank statements from loved ones, and not being able to pay your financial obligations because you purchased a blade that you just could not pass on.Yes there needs to be a Knifeaholics Anonomous for some of us for sure.I ponder what the 12 steps and traditions would be for Knifeaholics Anonomous?

I don't know about the steps and traditions, but I bet they would hand out different color jarbenzas instead of chips. Yes, I get to pick up my blue jarbenza today! Haha

As a friend of Bill, I too am allergic to alcohol(I break out in handcuffs). I've found quite a few knife lovers in and around the rooms, and contributed to some newcomers developing an interest in sharp things. An hour a day keeps Mr. Hyde away. Stay plugged in thru the holidays gentlemen.

I've corrupted my sponsor. He's purchased a ZT9 and HDS light from me and has a Sebenza on order. I've also become the knife sharpening service for my home group.

Could be a blessing and a curse. Always remember be careful what u ask for. Congrats on the upcoming yr. Time flies, my first day in the basement was 1/12/94. Keep on keeping on.

2 years clean for me!

I'm came out of jail to a new baby boy. Since then I've been squeaky clean, and loving it

There is a down side. While my girl was pregnant, I was flipping balisongs, so I had a "bali baby"
His addiction was at birth.

;)

Check out the shirt.

Don't feel bad. Even if I had one knife onky...it still wouldn't get used enough in my lifetime to be considered abused. For me it's more of a toy that I like to play with. Open and close. Admire it. Customize it. Make it mine. I already know when I buy a knife I'll never really use it yet I have a bunch of them. It's really a great hobby because you don't really lose when buying one. You can always trade it for something else. Sell it and get your money back.
Most awesome knives are around 100-300 dollars. You can spend more than that going out to a dinner date a few times in one week. And that you'll forget about the next week. You work to get things you want. So go get them ;)

A knife addiction doesn't have to be an acquisition addiction.

That being said, I got myself clean about 15-20 years ago playing around with knives. It has been a bit of a sine wave since in the obsession level. I have a couple other a̶d̶d̶i̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶s̶ interests to occupy my a̶d̶d̶i̶c̶t̶i̶v̶e̶ driven personality.

For me, It was progressive. I started buying and eventually modifying. Then came manufacturing and sales!

My addiction with edges objects started when I was about 5 years old. My father was a carpenter and there was always something sharp around along with some cool and frosty or semi-flammable beverages. We had property in the country and always fished and hunted. You still could drive a truck with a rifle in the back window and everyone carried a Buck knife.I Became highly skilled at throwing knives into logs and various objects.I learned to sharpen on a stone.I can skin a buck and run a trout line...My first job was and apprentice butcher under old school Italians.I was a little hellion. It's been uphill and downhill since then. One thing for sure is my life has been good for the past 17 years.I met some nice people when I was 24 yo and some guy named Bill. One knife at a time......
