Knifeaholics Anonomous

Suck it up Nancy boy, it's not like you are buying wigs or women's purses, every time you buy a knife John Wayne smiles and nods in approval.

My first child will be born late Feb, a son, and I have just received a now discontinued Sage 4 that I intend to cut the umbilical cord with, and then keep to give him when he's old enough.
I plan to indoctrinate him into this thing of ours from his first breath :D

Wait, you're going to give him the knife or the umbilical cord? I think he would prefer the knife haha.
Oh and congratulations!

At least when you spend money on a knife, you have the knife forever...

I kind of wish that your statement was correct. No flames; I'm sure it is true in your case, but my "history" shows that I used to buy/sell/trade with really no thought about using them or keeping them. They all just sat in a cardboard box.
I have carried just one folder... each for several yrs before I have changed to something else.
So yes, my problem has been more than collecting; more of an addiction. I still keep several favorites around, but am now content with one folder that fits my hand, neither too large nor too small, and serves my casual needs nicely. And the best part? I don't have a c-c bill coming in every month that makes me wonder how I'm going to pay it... Can become an endless circle, made little sense (in my case) and I'm glad that I seem to have run the course...and...survived. Well, for the most part... :)

and...Charlie Mike, I really like the way that you have changed your tag line. We are all behind you 100%.
Merry Christmas.

I think I have a problem. I'm thinking about slipping. I have my eye on two. My deposit clears at midnight. I might be late night binging tonight.

I sold the Rolex on the right to fund a DDR. You know your addiction is bad when you sell jewelry to finance the next buy.

Don't do it! Be strong. You know you can always buy them tomorrow if you really want to. One day at a time. Say it with me, one day at a time.

Well I figured out how to scratch the wave itch. Mr. Spyderco Military has a date with the plastic surgeon soon. I did some minor reshaping to the handle yesterday. Today I switched it to tip up carry and started practicing grinding on a cheapo blade, since this is the first time I've tried to modify a blade. I think I'm getting it down. I'm constantly holding the edge to make sure it doesnt get very hot and dunking it every few seconds. If anything I'm going to slow which is ok by me.

I ordered a knife almost year ago that is only made in carbon steel and I would carry it if not for the Hamon. Hell I like patinas and still might carry it. When the maker notified me it was ready he also said his books were open again so I did the only logical thing I could and ordered his newest carbon steel model also ;)

I approve! Some of your drawings look like my Tatanka.

Yeah i wont lye, I got the blade shape from your you tube video. I looked all over for a waved spyderco, and that was the only one I found that I liked. The drawing was just a sketch to give me some reference when I do a rough outline on the blade. Did you grind out the main portion of the blade or cut it out with a dreme? I've got both and wasn't sure which way would be safest on the heat treat.

I used my 1x42 grinder for the majority of the work. I did the hook with a Dremel... cutoff wheel and 1/4" 60 grit sanding drum. As long you dip it in water after every pass on the grinder, you won't have anything to worry about.

We both smoke menthol 100s. Smart minds think alike!

My one year sobriety birthday was 12/2/14. I celebrated it by buying my first CRK Damascus Sebenza. Sadly, I seem to have traded one addiction for another. :D

I know what you mean.

Knives are expensive, but not as expensive as keeping up a habit.
I could have got a sebenza every 2-3 days the rate I was going.
