Knifeaholics Anonomous

Me too. Ex wife and I were going through a teener of crystal every day.

Yeah I can say I was right around $200 a day, just to be functional really. Raw dope.

Ugh. Make myself sick now.

But,
We are both on to better things now

Congratulations Tasmaniac 1 is a big deal! (I've hitting 32) knives are new to me, I've always have a EDC (mostly Spydeco) and 23 but now recently retired (medical with cane, can't fight, can't even run) living in gated community so no need to carry anymore but in the last six months I've bought 11 different folders, about $40 each but still haven't found the right "gentleman everyday carry" This forum just made me realize it' just my addictive personality kicking in again. Merry Christmas to All

Thanks, Mick and welcome to the forum! Merry Christmas to you as well!

Good luck with that search for the perfect gentleman's EDC! I would recommend a small Sebenza but then I'd feel like I was turning you on to a gateway drug.

Congratulations on the year.

Well this thread whent its own direction pretty fast haha. I'm actualy quite surprised at the number of friends of bill on this forum.
I've always wondered though what do people in na say? Friend of bill's younger brother?

Well, if you have an addictive personality you're likely to manifest that trait in your collection behavior. :D

Hmmmmmm. Seems like what started out as a kinda tongue in cheek post has developed into something a bit more serious. Wishing good todays to all that have connected here, sometimes for reasons other than knives.

Oh, and BTW Charlie Mike: I'd hazard a guess that you were 100% correct about Bill W. & Dr. Bob carrying pocket knives. Both were VT guys.

I try not to think about how irrational some of my knife purchases are.

Btw , Merry Chistmas and Happy Chanukah to all my bladeforums brothers

My one year sobriety birthday was 12/2/14. I celebrated it by buying my first CRK Damascus Sebenza. Sadly, I seem to have traded one addiction for another. :D

Congrats on the 1 year.

I don't look at collecting/accumulating/hoarding sharp pointy objects as an addiction but the satisfaction of scratching an itch. When someone questions my quantity of sharp, pointy objects, I simply ask them "Am I drinking to excess, doing drugs or catching loose women? No. So BUG OFF.""

When I read this post I thought someone was posting about me... I bought 15 custom knives this year for $25,000..... This is my 2nd year of collecting and when I started I thought a $160 ZT was ridiculous and would not spend that much. Fast forward and now I'm buying knives that cost 2x more than my custom Wilson combat 1911s. Sometimes I wish I would not have found this site.

I wake up everyday and check the custom knife sales and IG. I even designed 5 knives and 3D printed them and now considering knife making as a hobby. I dont think I want to sell them, just make them for my own enjoyment. Pretty sure I have a problem.

Well it's coming together pretty nice. I've still got to shape out the clip point part of the spine and smooth out all the edges.
Thanks ernest and charlie for the inspiration. It's been a fun project.

First, a shout out to the friends of Bill on here who are making it work. May the coming year see you another year clean and sober. You guys rock.

That said, I have to confess that when I started on knives, I thought a price of more than a hundred dollars was certifiably insane. I also hated Spyderco knives. They looked ugly to me.

Flash forward a few years and I find myself spending $300 on, yes, a Spyderco. Granted, it is a Cruwear Military, to go with my DLC Military and my fluted titanium Military, to say nothing of my two sprint Manix or four Natives.
