Yep, I'd go down to the US Post Office and tell them you want to send a package "Priority" or "Priority Mail". They'll give you a free box if you ask (or they may be sitting on the counter for you -the boxes, not the postal workers- but careful: some boxes are for sale, and some come free with the Priority Mail service, so make sure you know what you're getting). It should cost you $4.60. UPS is usually going to cost much more, in my experience!

Well I got a knife in the mail on thursday morning. I was not going to open it but I realized I knew what it was so I opend it. I love it but I was thinking If everyone says whos knife they got then the last person to get a knife will know what they are getting before they get it. Well I will say it is cool to get a knife so different from what I make. I have used it a bunch already and it has worked very nice. Also I did let the maker know I got it.

I cant wait to see what the person getting mine thinks when they get it. This is so fun.

Hey, I got a knife in the mail. I won't yet say which knife as it would narrow thing up fro the remainder. I will say it was a very nice knife and sheath and pictures have already been posted of it. Thank you sender for your efforts and I hope you enjoyed making it as much as I did getting it. Jim

Running a little bit behind on mine. It's amazing how much time a newborn and a wife that's had no sleep demand. :-)

I put the handles on last night and will get them shaped up over the next two nights. Then it's a matter of sharpening and a sheath. I'm still shooting to ship by Friday. That should put it to ************ by later next week. I am very happy personally with how this knife has come out. It's only my second flat grind and honestly my first where I haven't screwed up the point. I went with a nice piece of Lacewood for the handle.

I do apologize for it not making it in time for Christmas but hey, some countries celebrate in on January 6th or something like that. :-)

Will definitely start this earlier next year.

Charlie

Got mine!!! I have to say, the note the maker sent was very good for the process used to make the knife. It looks fantastic and he (whomever that might be :) ) is off to a great start. Love the design and the ingenuity put into it! Sharp bugger, too. Thanks for a great gift!

This is turning out fantastic. I'm very pleased with how all of you are coming through with some great knives. Congrats to all of you!

Charlie, I totally hear you about the newborn and wife with no sleep!! I'm in that boat myself!

If the leather guy calls tomorrow, then mine should ship to ######### tomorrow! I know I'm gonna start mine earlier next year too! -Matt-

odd, but i feel like an old hand here, i have one that's 4.5 and one that's 15 months :)

both wnat to help me make knives...............

and of course, my wife is ubermom (she's in college doing the midwife thing, and has 4 years experience as a doula. AND 2 child related AS degrees.)

i have to remind myself often in the shop that my son is NOT an interruption. He's a student.

Kids are a blessing, no matter which faith you have- enjoy it to the max!

All the knives i have seen are great looking. Mine was mailed 18 days ago so i hope the person i sent it to gets it soon and confirms that they have it.

I love kids, but, in many ways I am glad mine are grown. It is more fun to spoil your grandkids than deal with your kids anyway.

Just shipped the knife to #######! I wrapped it with Christmas paper in the hopes he will torture himself and put it under the tree and let the excitement eat at him! That's what I'm gonna do with mine! :p -Matt-

This brings up a good idea, so that the senders know if you've received their knife. If you've received a knife, even if you didn't open it and don't know who the maker was, please post an "I got a knife in the mail" post here. The sender knows who they sent the knife to, so they'll know from your post that the knife arrived safely. As for me, I haven't received a knife yet, but have sent one out.

The 10-12 hour days at the store are making it impossible to finish mine before the 25th. I will do the final grinding and handle work on Christmas day and the 26th. If all goes well,it will be posted by new years day. If it isn't ready on time, I'll call the recipient and let him know that it is coming soon. I have been working on four knives for all our kids between setting diamonds at work, and hope to have them done by the 28th when they will be here. Everyone in my family, and most of my friends know that presents from me usually come in January. I hand make nearly all gifts. So far no one has ever complained of the wait in the last 30 or so years.

Stacy,
I'd just call him and let him know it's going to be later. If it were me, I'd request that you didn't work on it on Christmas day or the 26th, and instead spent the time with your family! Whoever they are, they will consider the fact that you're the one making their Xmas Gift Exchange Knife an additional Christmas gift. I know that if it were me, I'd be willing to wait a very long time for one of your creations! We knew when we started this that some of us would not have the time to get it done before Christmas, because of our jobs, families (including some new babies being born, etc). The thought still counts.

Recieved mine over a week ago and sent a thank you note right away. She's a beauty and has been put to work already.
