Knifemakers Christmas season gift exchange!

Scott, I'm in! This is gonna be really strange for me, because I've never had a knife leave the shop that was not in the trash can! I'm excited and paranoid at the same time. I actually started the gift knife this afternoon, cuz I'm gonna need all the time I can with this project. I hope no one minds getting a knife from a fairly inexperinced maker, but I promise I'll do the best I can.

What should be the approximate delivery date? Obviously before Christmas, but did you have a date in mind? -Matt-

Whenever you get it done is the approximate delivery date. Oh, and I myself would consider it an honor if you ended up with my name in the exchange!

Count me in too if it's not too late :) I always like these knife trades :D

I am in. Email sent. I think this is great. I look forward to having someone else on this forum getting one of my knives to talk trash about on the forum.

No I am sure there will be no trash talk. It would be cool if there was an ongoing knife exchange so makers could get their knives evaluated by other makers.

Ok, I am in if you will give me the meaning of EDC. Every day cutter? Or what Jim

EDC = Every Day Carry

It could be a pocket knife, or a small sheathed belt carry type. Heck, a necker can even be called an EDC. Just something that is capable of being carried easily.

Without your name and address, I have no way of sending you the name and shipping address of the person you'll be making a knife for. I also won't be able to give your name and address to the person who would be making your knife.

Counting myself, we now have 13 people in for sure, and are waiting on the two listed above, which would make 15.

Is anyone else interested in joining in the fun? If you are, please email me your name and address to scott.ickes@timken.com

Thanks!

Im in if you'll have me. id love to hear what another maker thinks of my work, and see another makers work for comparison. this is a great idea and i'll be honored to participate. sending an e-mail now.

If i were more confident in my own work I'd be in, but having only 5 knives under my belt in a year since I started, I think I need quite a few more before I let another maker have some of my work =D If we do this again next year, sure ! Till then... I'd rather not feel like the person who brings the 'goat' gift to a yankee swap, the one gift that eveyrone does their best NOT to get =D

Justin,
Come on fella. I for one, would be honored if you ended up with my name! I'm sure that others here, including myself will be worrying about the quality of the work that we do on this.

Think about the advantages. You'll have a deadline, so you'll get to work on this with a sense of urgency, while still trying to do quality work. I think you'd find that this will end up being your best knife up to this point in time. You'll probably surprise the daylights out of yourself.

I know that when I have an order for a particular knife that has been designed and needs to meet specifications, that is when I do my best work!

Step up to the challenge for us. We want you to join in.
