Knifemakers Christmas season gift exchange!

If i were more confident in my own work I'd be in, but having only 5 knives under my belt in a year since I started, I think I need quite a few more before I let another maker have some of my work =D If we do this again next year, sure ! Till then... I'd rather not feel like the person who brings the 'goat' gift to a yankee swap, the one gift that eveyrone does their best NOT to get =D

Justin,
Don't let me down. Bite the bullet and join us!

Come on guys. Let's heckle Justin until he gives in and joins us. Who would like to be the first to question his manhood? :p

well, cheated a bit?- not really. I had this one started (okay, I've been working on it for a month, waiting for not-rushed times) and realized that I've got about a dozen of the forged utility/throwers, 2 vegetable cleavers, and 3 other knives I have on order now, so I better get cracking along. So I put several hours into this this weekend, and I'm working on some hand finishing, edge, and sheathwork.

O1, osage orange scales, you can't see it in the picture but I've spent a lot of time rounding the spine and hand rubbing on it. It's a 3.3 inch blade, makes a nice EDC fixed blade. Hope it's worthy of the exchange, though.

Question MY manhood?! I think Stacy and myself should be questioning the rest of yours! Everyone knows a real man wears a kilt

What the heck, I'll do it, I just got a treadle hammer to help knock down some of this large stock iv'e got, so I can use a lot more of the tool steel sitting in the back of my garage now and should speed things up considerably. Sending you a email with my address in a few mins.

Koyote, that is quite exchange worthy in my book! I'd put that sucker to work in a heartbeat!

I'll try to post some pics later if I have time. I'm actually losing sleep over this! Partly because I'm excited and partly because I'm afraid I won't get it done in time! -Matt-

That's the spirit Justin! Uhhh...I hate to say this, but, you actually don't look too bad in a kilt!

Of course I look good in a kilt, everyone looks good in a kilt ! I actually had my first blacksmithing lessons while kilted, since the person I was learning from was working the local ren-faire that weekend. I'm one of those 'crazy people' that will wear a casual kilt like a utilikilt or amerikilt on a hot day, because it's more comfortable, or go out to a bar with my friends wearing a kilt. I did the whole new england blacksmith's fall meet kilted, it made it easy for people to find me to inquire about my tailgate items, I just put a sign on my truck "for questions and to buy items, see the guy in a kilt" I sold everything that I had brought =)

Heck, maybe I should make my exchange blade a sgian dubh =P

Now tell me, does anyone in this picture look bad?!

I always say,
" If you can think of any circumstance in which you would be uncomfortable wearing a kilt....You shouldn't wear a kilt in any circumstance."

Welcome aboard Justin i'm sure would be happy to recieve a black knife!

I wear a utilikilt often, or one of the urban types that I made myself. (UKs are expensive).

Someday I'll get one done in navy tartan.

Well, here's where I am with my exchange knife. O-1 steel ready for the HT at 220 grit, which if all goes to plan, will happen wednesday afternoon.

Let's hope it somewhat resembles what you see here when it's done!

Here it is next to the box from an 8" x 2" sharpening stone for size reference.

The knife thing is fairly recent, I have this site to thank for a lot of the questions I ever had! And thanks!

So it only fitting to share.
Was peeking in Santa's workshop today (this one had a different address) , but they were busy as h311.

Well I'm new to the forum and this is my first post but this sounded like too much fun to pass up. Like many here I'm a little hesitant to compare my quality to some I've seen but I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

E-mail inbound with contact information.

Thanks,
SDS

Real ladies don't need to look under kilts. They have been shown properly by a gentleman.

Love this idea, love EDC's and love Christmas. What a combination.
