Knifemakers Christmas season gift exchange!

We just picked up two more. Kevin Salonek emailed me his contact information and is in. I also called a friend back in Ohio that rarely gets on the forums, but is a knifemaker. He is excited about it and will be in on this. His name is Jeff Calvin.

We're up to 16 confirmed in on this now. Still waiting on addresses for two others.

C'mon Justin! I haven't done many either, but there comes a time in every young mans life...:D I've come to terms with it based upon what this is... a gift exchange, not a contest, or about who is the better maker. I saw that Sgian Dubh you made not too long ago, that was great! Have fun with it! You know you want to! -Matt-

If i were more confident in my own work I'd be in, but having only 5 knives under my belt in a year since I started, I think I need quite a few more before I let another maker have some of my work =D If we do this again next year, sure ! Till then... I'd rather not feel like the person who brings the 'goat' gift to a yankee swap, the one gift that eveyrone does their best NOT to get =D

Hey Justin, this is the first time I've dared. You can do it too!

Yeah- I tell ya, my knives work, but they ain't all that to look at :) I'm just going to do my best to give a good gift.

I'd like to participate too, if you don't mind international makers.

I have no problems with you being a part of the group. How long does it take to ship to and from Estonia though. I can include this information, so that you and the maker who is making one for you is aware of the amount of time it will take to ship.

Excellent! Shipping time to and from US is usually 2 weeks, sometimes more, sometimes less, but average is 2 weeks.

im really exited! im setting aside the day tomorrow to start forging. to those who are intimidated, go for it. im nowhere near confident, but its a gift of thought, and any of us will know that. this is a really cool idea. maybe we could set up a themed knife exchange every few months, that would be so cool.

Oh man, I would LOVE to get in on this... but I can't be sure I'd even have made my first knife by the time the holidays come 'round, let alone one I'd be willing to give as a gift!

Oh well, there's always next year... :(

I rough ground out 3 new ones tonight to get my practice up. Have to profile and bevel out my EDC gift one tomorrow! Once again, Scott, great idea!

A suggestion. Take pictures of your progress on the knife you're making and post them here. It'll be fun to see people drooling over certain knives, and not knowing if they are the one that will be receiving it!!!
