Rise and grind indeed!

I'm hoping something in the form of a tanto gets posted for sale soon. I need my first Fairly!

Mornin fellas!

Gone walkabout this morning, grabbed a couple cameras, several lenses and headed for downtown. We'll see what comes of it!

Make it a great day fellas!

New York Custom Knife Show in about 2 weeks...what knives do you carry to a knife show? I'm hoping the little project Mrs. Fairly is working on will be done, I want to use it and show it off :)

NYCKS was an experience last year. I drove up with a friend, and it was very cool to see all the blades. Unfortunately there are a lot of snobs in this hobby, and along with that; rude people. I would't go again. Crappy drive, city, people.

Seeing Mick was cool but he was completely surrounded by fangirls. Same with horton. I got to chat with Krein a bit; he was very polite. There was a guy there last year who bought a Strider and had no idea why. Wish i had that kinda disposable >.>

Aww. I'm just a negative nancy. I just didn't like a lot of the people. They were not very warm. The swarm around Mick was unreal though. You had to fight through the crowd just to get to his display! And there seemed to be an entourage around Horton. I like his work, but I don't get the group of people. Also, the drive into Jersey City was a nightmare. I used a public restroom while there and I think someone was murdered in one of the stalls. So much blood.

From what I gathered, I was one of the youngest people at the event which threw me off. Lots of folks a lot older then I am. You get to see a ton of amazing blades which really is what you'd go for, but don't expect the warm brotherly greeting like you'd get here in Daniels subforums.

I didn't know you were a local!

*bonus*

If you do go, enjoy it, and spend cash; you probably help stimulate the local economy.

*bonus bonus*

Just thought of this, but you could just buy more from Daniel and stimulate a focused part of the economy that we happen to really like.

I support Daniel :) mostly :D

And knife shows are craptastic.. bunch of old hicks for the most part :)

<hic>

Only thing worse than a knife show is a pen show. Talk about snobbery! If you don't have a Mont Blanc 149 in your pocket/collection you won't even be considered worthy of a hello!

No crack heads to deal with today, the bums were still sleeping on the court house steps. Did meet a guy with a skateboarding bul dog! That dog was nuts on his board! Hilarious to watch.

Hey guys! ...missing this place!

I have more family over and things have just about come to a screeching halt here, it has been tough getting any shop time in. ...not my idea with that but I'm cracking the whip soon! Even my cats will be working. :D

That's cool your family is close and nearby O_O Family time is key :)

How does one carry their friction folder? Floating in pocket bottom? It has a clip? A sheath? Floating pocket sheath? Floatin.. er O_O

Daniel - how much time are you on other forums besides here? Are we missing out? :/

Their might be a beer thread, but I'll just ask heree: What's everyone's favorite casual drinking ale? No stouts :P

Daniel also, shallow milled alien script CCKs anodized. >wink<

I just keep mine in my pocket or nearby... I'll be doing some with tip-down carry clips though. I need to make a streamlined clip that looks good on one.

Family time is a good thing! I need to explain more of that later...

Other Forums - I recently started posting on Facebook but it is like my www.danielfairlyknives.com site, more of a blog to keep people occasionally updated. I have been selling a lot of knives through FB and my tictail site (to people that have mostly joined here now! :D) but this is still my home. In other words my absence has to do with family... I love Bladeforums. I was posting on the other major knife forums a ways back but decided to focus on here... good people at Bladeforums!

Favorite drinking beer... that is tough! Durango Brewery makes a great drinkable Amber Ale I like but their Derail Ale may be my favorite. I was really into Arrogant Bastard for a while too... strong ales are a favorite but not that drinkable. I generally like when they have enough malt to balance the hops.

Anchor Steam on tap is really nice. Newcastle is a good one...

The beer in the hand is often best! Yesterday I had a Dos Equis Amber that really hit the spot with some Mexican Food.

I like that CC Knife idea!

Morning all.

Good morning! I hope you are doing great!

I haven't mentioned this yet but my Dad has stage three Colon Cancer. He is doing well considering how serious it is but we will be leaving soon for a couple of weeks to go see him. We really appreciate any thoughts, prayers and positive vibes and your support.

Currently we are getting ready for winter and playing this by ear. We have Sara's family down to help but they are keeping us busy with more family and guests staying over.

I'm doing as much as I can now and will only be gone for a couple of weeks... I'm considering bringing the grinder so I can work.

I just wanted everyone to know so you guys know what the heck is really going on here. I as motivated as ever but it has been tough.

Thanks again for the support and please send any thoughts or prayers to my Dad! He is a Vietnam Vet and cancer won't slow him down!

Wishing for the best, Daniel. Sounds like a strong man so he's got the guts and with family like you he's got the support!

Strap that grinder to your back but don't lose focus on the reason you're there :)

Morning all!

Prayer sent and best wishes to your dad!

You do what you got to do and take care, we will be right here for your return.

-Ben
