Had to stop by the North Central Los Angeles animal shelter today.. made the mistake of doing 3 rounds in the big dog section..

Two puppers stood out. I wish I could could pull it off right now. The female is about 40 pounds.. My pup would love a sibling

Some might find this offending, but I´ve carried a Spyderco C07G Police on my bicycle trips since 1997 and on about half a dozen occasions I´ve been forced to flick it open in preparation against dog attacks. Last summer a (illegally!) free running German shepherd tried to grab my leg on a public road. I placed by bike as a barrier, drew the knife and informed the owner very loudly that I´d turn her dog into a pair of winter mittens unless she gets the dog away - and she did. As a side note, I have nothing against dogs as such, on the contrary, I like them.

Not pointing fingers at you, or criticizing. Just stating facts. 99% of dogs that come at bicycles and joggers like that, are just posturing. The movement triggers their drive to pursue. People freak out and then it freaks the dogs and owners out. If more people realized that, there would be a lot less incidents.
