Photos Knives & Guns

Interesting fact I learned about my particular Steyr. Mine is a "gray" market gun. 1st gen (M9) slide, 3rd gen extractor, 2 gen frame, 3rd gen trigger. Very strange, but apparently there was a military contract gone wrong, and they took some first gen slides, updated everything including the frame, and PW arms sold them here. Steyr is aware of them, and covers them under warranty. This is why my slide says M9, and not M9-A1 but everything else is from the A1.

What is the slipjoint in the top picture? I can't quite make it out.
That's a customized GEC 86... Slipjoint Spa. Charcoal hemp wood and paper micarta lightweight build... honestly do not know which GEC 86 it was prior - I received it like that. I love David V's work on GECS so I grabbed it on the 2ndary.

Original listing said:

Bolsters are very dense vintage paper micarta

This model received a pinned federal shield and a lanyard tube mod.

Thanks

...and wow 😲

Is the German Mak with a polygonal rifling or this was the Chech Mak ?
AFAIK, my EG is as described: "The barrel is chrome-lined, which protects the bore somewhat from the effects of corrosively primed ammunition. The barrel has four grooves with a right-hand twist. The slide has 10 grasping grooves on the left side and 17 on the right. "

I got mine when I had my C&R FFl for about 6 years way back when I got all my Mausers, SKS, Mosins, French junk, etc... I think it was around $140 or $150 from a friend on the old Crufflers email list. I had missed the drop so to speak on the EG's and he had quite a few dupes - it was actually a lot like traditional knife collecting is today but lower stress, hahah.

I got it crufflers crufflers , thank you Sir. So the only Mak version in the Soc Block with polygonal rifling (as the one on H&K, not Glock's "polygonal" rifling) is the Chech VZ-82 pistol in 9mm.
For some reason I thought the East Germans also had one with such rifling but obviously I'm mistaking. 😂
Makarov is a nice relic, I'd always go for the German or Chech quality, before I reach to the Russian or Bulgarian models.

It shoots good from what I recall, but I prefer modern stuff with less character lately... still has a 8 round mag loaded with Gold Dots though. Yeah I think my USP Expert and all the Glocks have polygonal except the built slides like the RMR G34, G19, etc... where I used a Lone Wolf or whatever aftermarket barrels. CZ's too, no? I have no idea about the CZ clones like IMI Jerichos or EA Witness, etc... I think I have three clones and three real commercial CZ's... countless Glocks. I used to be very tuned into all the little tech details even the barrel twists but not so much anymore. I care more about dumb knives now.

I recall shooting a few Russian variations... the Surplus 9x18's and the Import ones that were Americanized (9x17 / .380 auto cal)... the .380's were pretty nice from what I remember. My buddy loaned me one for a couple weeks when that kind of thing was normal. The EG's are definitely really smooth and shoot nice (for a solid hunk of blow-back steel).
