FES,

Nice batch of fish. What kind are they? They don't look quite like anything I catch here in the USA or in Canada.

Chris.

Today, my mom came up for a visit, and offered to babysit our newborn, so we could get out of the house for a few hours.

So we went north to Lake Geneva, WI and had a nice walk along the lake with 30 mph winds, and also through the neighborhood.

We ended our little excursion with a trip to the local wine shop. We ordered a glass of wine each and bought a wedge of some nice Portuguese sheep milk cheese to go with it. But of course the cheese was shrink wrapped in a thick plastic. This is the first outing with the Case Mini Copperlock. (Bermuda Green, pocketworn) The wrapper yielded easily to it's razor-sharp edge.

Later, I cut the cheese (ha) with the knife too. The knife provided to me was dull, and tip was bent over from having hit the floor.

I had just dropped the Mini Copperlock earlier that day on the concrete; my keys snagged it and pulled it out of my pocket with them.

Anyway, here's the evidence:

Smaug, love that Mini Copperlock in action. It fits so well in that setting! Have we seen that one before?

I took the gang out to break down a box. It was too cold to realign the handles for a better picture (the mini copperlock and SBJ, in particular, wanted to keep cutting all on their own), and the most obvious knife of this set for the job -- the Opinel Garden Knife-- clearly was, but I thought I'd give everyone some fresh air. ;-)

I haven't officially introduced it yet. I have several that I haven't introduced yet, other than to put them in the "What're you carrying today" thread.

I'm a little behind on that. It has taken me this long just to re-grind the factory bevels and sharpen them all.

I have quite the rainbow of Case knives now. I think I'm done with them for a while, hehehe. That Jr. Scout came in the other day; what a great little knife! (photos and proper intro coming soon)

Nice pics. I don't understand how you dropped the copperlock if it snagged on your keys. Was it open in your pocket?

We're still working on that wedge of manchego cheese from the other day, today with the Opinel #6. Guys, I think this is the PERFECT cheese knife, and that is probably no coincidence, since it is a French design. The nice slim blade just glides right through this hard cheese.

I also broke down a big double-wall stroller box today with it into small pieces.

The Opinel is the perfect knife for a lot of things IMO :)

I am editing this to avoid the ugly logo that says my pictures are no longer available, because I am deleting some pictures from my photobucket account.

This snack theme is mouthwatering!

They do say the reason the French have a much lower rate of heart problems compared with other countries, is due to them eating a lot of fruit and drinking wine while eating cheese. Suits me just fine too!

Some cheeses I like: Mature Cheddar, Stilton, Shropshire Blue, Camembert, Neuf Chatel, Gruyere. Opinel really is an excellent slicer for cheeses that are hard, a Laguiole likewise or any Drop Point knife that's thinne- GEC 73 for instance.Sodbuster works a treat too. Wharncliffes give good slices of sausage too.

The power of suggestion, so mighty.

Off to put a knife to work. ;)

Looking good fellas!

I disagree about the Sodbuster making a good cheese knife though. At least on my Case Sodbuster Jr., the blade is way too thick for that. :)

I used my Soddy Jr. today to help me clear some branches away from a trail in the woods. The bigger branches were too thick for my hand held pruner, so I used the Soddy to whittle them down until I could break them, then finished with the small clipper.

On another note, I now have a thorn pretty deeply embedded in one of my fingers, and I think I'll make use later of my Vic Explorer's magnifier and tweezers...
