Knives of the Blade Show - 2009

The Russ Andrews Bowie is absolutely outstanding in every way. The CKCA makers really went ALL out on our 7 show knives. We already have Tom Ferry and Steven Rapp signed up to make 2 of our show knives for next year.

The Jason Knight Damascus fighter's (lucky, Joe Paranee) ergonomics are extraordinary.

Don't know how I missed that beautiful Tom Ferry Bowie. Would have had a hard time leaving without it.

Awesome knives.
Great photos.
If there are more...
Keep'em comin!

Fantastic photos Coop of fantastic knives! I enjoy following this thread with much anticipation!

Absolutely breathtaking!

I don't know which is better; the knives or the photos.

Thank you so much!

Thanks Coop that is my knife and I was very lucky as Kevin stated to get it. I really apreciate you posting the pic I bought the knife in the very begining of the show and it went to you for pics now Paul has it and when I get it back I will post it with the new sheath and pics of the other knife I got. Thanks again

Thanks guys.

Neither. The praise for all of this needs to be directed at the artist/craftsman who created the knives themselves. They may represent 50 hours building a knife, YEARS of experience in developing styles/designs and procedures, and untold aspirins along the way... ;)

The same is true for my work, but on a vastly smaller scale. My work is about one hour per photo, tops.

All that said, even I can't deny the appeal of a well-displayed image. It's a crowning cap to the hard work and skills of the maker--and the photographer.

A humble thanks. I'll have many more, soon. :)

Coop has the cool job and Joe has all the cool toys :D

Really enjoyable thread.

Fantastic knives done justice with fantastic pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Brion, what wood is that on the carbon hunter knife at the right in your set?

Not a bad thing. Still, let's show how appealing some stock removal can be. :D

Let's start out with a bang!

Gus Cecchini has been knocking them out of the ballpark since he burst into the scene a couple of years ago. I had the pleasure of shaking his hand (with his crushing grip). He is all about hand control.

This one is VERY deceptive. Watch how the clip disappears when it's open. That's the end of the lockface way out there.

This was shown elsewhere on the forum, but here's my version of Jerry (Gerry?) Halfrich's rounder design.

I would love to know what Tony Bose thinks of Ryuichi Kawamura's impeccable folders. I've handled many, and like the Patriarch's work, I can't find a flaw.

That said, Mike Zscherny can hang with the best of them, too. Are you following me camera guy...? :p

Keith Ouye makes a darn good utility knife. He isn't afraid of color, either.

Lastly, John Kubasek has been making this cool little wallet folder for a few years. he smartly decided to dress them up a bit. Here's the wood laminated versions for you!

More tomorrow. I still have about 30 left to edit and finish.

I especially like the Kawamura on the right. The large one with the two blades. Normally I'm not that much into this type of knife (saddlehorn??????) but this one appeals to me a lot.

I would love to know where he gets his stag  Very Nice slipjoints!

Joe, your Jason Knight is fantastic! Really like the steel. Wish I'd seen it live in Atlanta.

Coop, thank you for your work and this thread! You are right when you say the show came to you. Can't wait to see more pics.

Had the opportunity to see and handle Brion Tomberlin's test knives. That dagger stole my heart but alas, it was someone else's.

And...Don know's which knife several of us at the show were dying to get our grubby mitts on :D (hint, it's in the middle)

Now I understand why Coop was so tired when I stopped by his room. Not easy making all this clear pictures without missing any detail, shot after shot, knife after knife...and he can make it, period! Thanks Coop.

Thank you everyone for the compliments. Hello Grapevine, the wood on the persian hunter is Olivewood burl. It has an interesting grain pattern and Jim's lighting sure brings it out.

Awesome shooting, Coop! Would you mind describing your shooting setup? I'm really curious as to how you get the knives lit up so evenly. What's your tripod setup like?
