Knives of the Blade Show 2012 • Art, Classics, and Surprises

we'd be lost in a sea of mediocre pictures of great knives if it weren't for your prolific efforts Coop!
no offense to you other pros. Your pics are awesome too, you just don't post as many as good ole Coop does:)

It's a fact that Keith Ouye and our families share a great friendship. He IS truly a gem of a man with his wife, Amelia.
He mentioned that folks were made aware of his works through my posts. As it should be. :)

This was posted somewhere, and it's a hoot. Scott slays them with this sword cane. This project gave me fits, but I accepted it. Came out well.

This was also posted on one of Scott's threads. I had the pleasure of admiring this knife on Connor's belt. I asked him to please leave it with me, at no fee. I thought the editors might like this boy's first handmade knife. MAJOR props!

Brion Tomberlin, MS gave himself fits creating this spectacular main gauche. It's a lot of blade to capture, so it took more than one shot.

Hi interpretation of a Khukri is very well presented!

Thank you again Jim. I think the main gauche gave us both trouble. Spectacular job on the photos. You sure make them look great. So many knives I did not get to see. I always look forward to this thread.

Great photo of Conner's knife
Could be a future MS in the making

Thanks for sharing your talent with us Mr. Cooper

Hats off to Connor. Brion's main gauche was fantastic - you captured it very well. Sword canes are cool by definition and I really like Scott's take on it here.

Coop, awesome stuff! There use to be a trucking company in our area that had a camel as their logo and the motto, "humpin' to please". I think that has been your motto since you set up shop in Atlanta last week. Thanks for the hard work and great results in record time. Always a treat!

I can't wait to see the JS knives.

^^^ As you wish.

What a privilege capturing these hard-earned winners. My style is pretty left-brained: I like symmetry and flow, so a fan display is always my goal. Well, almost always. ;)

(Mike's middle knife is the George Peck award for Best Journeyman Smith Knife.)

I wish to congratulate these men and their wives for the work. Yes, the wives went through the process along with them. We heard ALL about it! :D

Lovely bunch, especially those from Dietrich Podmajersky are out of the ordinary.

Marcel

Whether or not you like Dietrich Podmajersky work, it is really nice to see something different in a Journeyman's group of test knives.

Jim, thanks again for making my JS knives looks so beautiful. I must say I was a bit nervous presenting such a divergent group of knives for judging. It is nice to see most of them here in one place. I was too distracted to really take in all of the other candidates knives.

My thoughts exactly!

Thank you for having the courage to submit such a divergence from the norm! It was a very brave thing and I am very glad you did so, and is nice to see that not all entrants have to have the same flavor to pass. Definately a group that clearly stands out from the others!! The reddish handled one with the flare at the pommel is my favourite, it looks like it would fit very well in hand and be able to be used well. Congratulations.

Coop,
I'm so glad you posted these pics. These knives were all around me and barely got to look at any of them. I must say, I was truly in the company of some great craftsmen!!!

Dietrich, your knives were awesomely different. I applaud you for making what you love and for doing something different from the norm. My wife loved your work too. Glad we were able to spend time hanging out a bit.

Coop,

Thanks for the great picture, I truly enjoy your work.

It was also a pleasure to meet most of the other Journeyman Smiths at the show. I really did not get to see their work until now. I am honored to be part of this year’s Journeyman Smiths.
