Knives you overestimated

how is it that you can at the same time say "not all 440c knives are bad, you can't say that because some of them are very good." Therefore the poor quality of some 440c knives does not speak for all.

But at the same time say "I have tried a few knives in s30v and CPM154 and they were poor quality, and thus they are all poor quality" therefore the quality of some CPM steel knives speaks for them all, including extrapolation to all powder steels?
I have already asked him to explain his stance on a few topics. When confronted with a situation like this, he hides in a corner and doesn't post again on that thread for awhile, if at all...

Tldr: don't expect an answer or him to come back.

The Estwing Drop Forged Bowie.

At first my interest was piqued, but then I saw it, then I thought about it, and then it went down the tubes...
Guess I caught this one early, good thing too.

I'm actually in the process of considering grabbing one of these. Don't know what to think, really. Intrigued by an integral 'bowie' in carbon steel, made in USA, and under 40.00....

The Misses works at a Home Depot, and I used to as well. Once one ends up as a return or a RTV, I will handle it in store.

I won't spend my funds on it unless a family member wants something they can't break, and don't want a Becker BK2.

I am seeing this knife in dollar signs. It is either this knife or a DMT Diafold, and the Diafold is Much more usable on Many more knives. This knife would end up being a yard beater at best and I have a few of those already, and if I want a new one Condor makes plenty that are likely better in hand.

My Randall model 14. I got it brand new from an authorized dealer. It came embarrassingly dull, along with a nasty wire edge. The tip is blunt, and it looks like a high school kid polished it with a Brillo pad. When I called the Randall shop to inquire about these issues Michael Randall got all nasty, and loud saying nothing more than "send it back" over and over again.

Did you send it back?

That is pretty much par for the course when it comes to Randalls these days it seems.

No. I still have it. I wanted a Model 14 since I was 10 years old, and got mine a year ago. I'm almost 50 now. I like the knife, and don't want to get rid of it, but it is just a very crudely made knife. I'm gonna have one of the sharpening service guys on here put a real professional edge on it, and keep it as a user.

Ive sold EVERY ZT that I have owned. They werent bad, they just didnt do it for me. The Sevenza 21 and 25 were sold. Every PM2 that I have tried, and I have tried numerous, has been passed on. Every Busse I have owned was sold as well. None of them were bad, just didnt really perform like I wanted. I have realized I want a big folder that is slim, light weight and slicey. Found the Spyderco Military is the folder for me. As far as fixed blades I am still searching. I have a few that have proven themselves. I am glad that the listed knives didnt do it for me because they helped me figure out exactly what i like, want and need.

Yo try the Boker Exskelibur 1 framelock. I have a full Ti version. It has the sliciest blade of any knife I own. Seriously the blade geometry means this knife could cut with no edge on it even.

Hey Scott!
If you want an amazing edge on that bad boy, hit Josh at REK up. Fantastic work from a really good guy!!
He'll turn it into a light saber!
Good luck!
Joe

I'd have to say my Emerson CQC-7A. Didn't care for the chisel edge (it is a V-ground) which simply did not cut very well, so I re-profiled it. The new edge geometry is just as bad, unfortunately. Nice ergos, though, and it's tough; good for prying paint cans and general abuse. Maybe it's the CM-154 steel. My Grippie in the same steel is another poor cutter; I have another Grippie in D2 that cuts like a screaming witch

ZT 0452. Got my first and the bearings were shot I returned it and got a second one and the detent was so hard that it left indentations in my finger. I did a lot of research on it and from what read everybody else said it was one of the best flippers on the market I sent it back to using ZT to see what they can do and if that doesn't work I'm just going to sell it. I have the 0562 CF and it works fine.

My 0452cf had also a very strong detent. After using the knife a lot, the detent loosened up to about 30%. But it is still pretty strong compared to other knives. On the other hand the opening requires that you push on the flipper with more force, what gives the opening a very good kick. Many love this.

But I also decided to send it back, not because of the detent. It was a bit too big for my purposes and the ergonomics weren't my taste.

My problem is that I really like the knife the size and the design. I am hoping that ZT can do something about it because I don't really want to get rid of it

CRK's I have bought and sold several and IMO none of them came close to the hype. I enjoy my Blurs much more an except for the Elmax one none cost more than $50

Have you tried to open and close the knife many times? it made the detent weaker by about 30%. The difference is really noticeable. First my finger really started to hurt, because I had to push the flipper so hard, when I got the knife out of the box.
