Knives you would never buy again!

BK-2. A very solid and well-built knife, but I just have no use for such a beast.

*ETA: I could see myself buying another one, just not for myself. If I was looking for a gift knife for someone who likes to beat the living snot out of their knives, a BK-2 or ESEE 5 might be just the thing. :)

After my experience with the JYD and JYD II,

I would never ever again buy a knife with a flipper. Hmmmm! Yo, blixxx!;-)

Hahaha I think you just opened Pandora's box with that comment, its only a matter of time...=)

For me, anything with a carbon blade. The humidity in the summer here is anywhere from 70-90% and when you combine that with sweaty pocket carry, they just don't hold up.
 
Like you guys have said. I also got spoiled by spyderco and others.
I wouldn't buy a SOG or a gerber ever again.
I wound't run out to get a speed safe knife but its not a deal breaker if i love the design.
Maybe not a microtech with their proprietary screws either.
 
Pretty much every knife I've ever sold I wouldn't buy again.

BK11- Good little knife but the izzy 2 is superior in every aspect.
BK5- I like this knife but IMO it was a knife that had no real purpose other than looking cool.
ESEE4- couldn't get used to the handle.
Ritter grip-didn't trust the small springs on the lock and I didn't like the cheap feel of the plastic handles.
Condor's knives-I'm not into "project knives" and that's what most of these are. The ones that were finished just didn't perform for my needs.
Izula- Same reason as the bk11
Ratmandu- good knife but heavy for what I needed it to do and it had a super thick edge. A mora has done the same jobs and has been more efficient at it
Swamp rat m6- completely useless except for batoning
Custom fixed blades- some were pretty good but every one I've had has had issues. Either the grinds are wanky, the handles are blocky, or both of those being good but the overall design is a bit flawed for my use. Basically poor geometry. The mid level factory knives I've had have been cheaper, more consistent edges and F&F and have had geometries that have been more efficient.
 
CRKT M16, or any of their knives. My m16 chipped badly in multiple places with just "normal" use.
Kershaw leek--its an ok knife, but I just don't like liner locks, and for that reason I avoid Kershaw.
Sog assisted knives. Nothing wrong with them, but I don't like how the lock isn't ambidextrous. Love the low carry clip. I lost my trident tanto tini anyway so all I have is a flash with a 2.5" blade now.
I love everything else I have. Probably gonna pick up a benchmade griptilian d2 tonight. We'll see.
 
I do not seem to be able to answer this question. I guess i can pick em well. I love every one & would not get rid of, nor have i ever gotten rid of any of my knives. I did trade a 12" Kentucky Belt Axe for a machete recently. I am 50 now. I have every single one since i joined the Army in 1981, except the ones my brother stole (pre 81') as a kid & sold for drugs or used in the commission of a crime & i never got back from the Police, even after the trial when i tried to, the proper way. I must have close to 75 or more by now. Mostly fixed blades. Maybe 10 folders or less.
 
the ZT550...a very well made knife, but I carry a can of chew in my front right pocket and that knife made getting to it rather difficult. i'll just stick to my much slimmer Spydercos.
 
zt561. i love to flip it, but it has seen very little pocket time and I don't see that changing. one of my few knives that i would consider parting with.

also, kershaw blur. it was my first "good" knife a few years back, and now that i've experimented, i absolutely detest recurves.
 
ANYTHING FROM BENCHMADE!!!!

i have sent every single knife i owned back to benchmade at least twice.

benchmade 527: broken omega springs 3 different times

benchmade 5000: broken omega spring and broken auto spring

benchmade griptilian: broken omega springs 2 different times.

benchmade 710: broken omega spring, had to send it in twice because they sent it back with a broken omega spring.


im not kidding. i sent the knife to them with a note showing the problem. they simply sharpened it and sent it back with a broken lock. how does a knife company do that?

needless to say i sold every single benchmade i owned. the worst part about it is they have probably 10 or 15 different models i would love to own but i will never buy a product from them again.
 
I have lots of Favorite Spyderco's, but I just got a Manix XL with BD1.

With the knife closed, it's really wide top to bottom. It gets super sharp, but dulls to easy. It's not bad enough to send back, buy I'll not buy another, and give this one away to a family member at Christmas.

imbryan715, bummer on the Benchmades, I have a couple of Benchies with years in the pocket(Barrage and Rift), knock on wood no spring issues yet(I live in a dry area, and keep mine oiled), I do wish I could buy spares in advance. I just got a 710!!!

any knives made by KAI (kershaw,ZT,shun)

they second somebody has something negative to say about a model or a steel such as elmax they handle the situation like a little child.
 
Boker CLB folding karambit developed blade play after just a few flicks. Complete garbage at least the one I had
cant say that about all Boker Plus knives, I have an armed forces tanto that ive used hard and its still solid and an automatic jim Wagner rbb thats still solid. Who knows maybe I had a lemon..
 
For me it would oddly enough be ANY knife I have all ready owned. The way I see it Is if I didnt like it enough to keep it the first time around what are the chances I would want to keep it the next time? Only a very few knives did I miss enough after selling them that I bought another down the road. As far as what I would never buy again? Well I hate to say never but I really am trying to never buy another custom knife site unseen. I have bought quite a few custom knives that despite stellar reputations of the makers left a bad taste in my mouth with cut corners. From completely dull blades to poor machining. So if Im going to buy a custom I would rather do it at a show where I can inspect whatever will be coming home. I hate ordering something and having it get here only to want to pack it up and send it back.

Well I now have the pleasure of owning one of their Seki Japan made knives in VG-10.
Solid lock up, no blade play, good fit and finish, and nice quality.
So, I would never own one of the cheaper SOG's made in Taiwan or China in AUS-8 or lower steel.
Simply because I hate the blade play and how a couple of them would fire open on their own.
But as far as the Seki-made SOG's. Yes, I would own more. Though a lot of them seem over-priced for what you get as far as materials. Handle materials specifically.

H&K Ally is another knife I will never own again. I've had 2 and they've both been so off center they rub the frame and have ridiculous blade play.
 
ZT 0301. Awesome looking knife. I really wanted to love this one. But my god...what an anchor. Granted, it's proven very durable from what I've seen online, but I just don't need to lug that kind of weight around every day for that length of blade. Awesome looker, but I use my knives...even the pretty ones...and this one had to go.

Benchmade 943. Call me crazy, it was another sweet blade, but just didn't care for the grip in hand. The knife felt awkward to use to me. I love clip point blades, but the combination of this blade profile and the aluminum just wasn't for me. SOLD it! I take it back, I might give this one another chance one day...but for now, no regrets.

Spyderco Paramilitary 2, Satin/Camo. Another awesome blade in terms of aesthetics. Didn't love the profile of the scales in hand. Blade felt a little long for EDC so knew it wouldn't spend time in the pocket after a week of carry. Might've kept it, but found the S30V from Spyderco to rust pretty easily in pocket from sweat. I keep my blades clean, but don't have time to baby them every day. My PM2 spotted rust almost overnight. Decided too much against it, and kissed it good-bye.
 
What didn't you like about it? Just curious. I have had 6 all together and all have been really good. Although, I did buy mostly blems and polish the washers and all the parts that make contact. It flips as smooth as my knives that have bearings now. Or do you just not like flippers? lol

For me it's the CRKT M16 or any knife with assisted opening.
The M16 has way too much blade and lock play. I can push down on blade when deployed and the lock tries to disengage. I see why they put the Lawks system on these knives.

I also have a Leek and like the knife , but see no usefulness in AO.
