Knocking off the Shine 30 Day Challenge

I’m saving it for the first canoe outing of the year Will! Rusting will be inevitable!!

Great stuff! But mind you don't get it overboard...it'll be worse than tearing down endless stone-walls up on the drear moors

But there's nothing wrong with a few 'exhibit' knives you know, and tastes can change.

Going to make this month a multi layered experience:

Every time I try to carry a large trapper I find I just don't like them. And yet I keep buying them. So I'm going to force myself this month to carry it each day until I make a final decision on the pattern.

I kept forgetting to drag this out. I have that same case trapper. One of my favorites and most carried knives.

This one just has a very uncomfortable secondary, I can't imagine using it for long periods.

You can’t really tell, but I’ve been using this one a good bit over the past week.

My wife just shamed me because my knife wasn't sharp enough for her

She forgot to pull out her razor blade to slit her bread before backing, so she asked for my knife. She got annoyed with it and went and grabbed one of my SAK, cause "she knew that one was sharp" I'll take that as a sign to sharpen this up.

You’re not wrong Will! Perhaps it will stay in my pocket, some times it’s just enough to know it’s there

Day 9 of “Knocking The Shine Off”. I’d say I’ve certainly done that… but the hankering to swap out for another knife is growing.

I’ll not waver though!

I like the idea of really getting to know the knife, as an object of use as well as an objet d’art and knowing come the end whether or not the knife,pattern,configuration truly does anything for me….. more later I suppose.

I’ll join…I’ve been using my City Stock since March 1 but yesterday was the first day it started to get patena…

The City Stock will be in use for at least the next 30 days.

Been a busy weekend. Still trucking along with it. Helped set up the rotisserie for the barbecue tonight. And here's some other random pictures from the last few days.

It's a good knife, it's definitely grown on me a lot more than I thought it would.

I just got back from a week at the beach and I had this with me the whole time. Cut off a few tags and sliced some food, that’s about it but it’s definitely losing its shine.

Had family over this weekend and the TC15 did all the work. The only thing really growing in the garden is mint and blackberries which went well with some cocktails.
The weather was perfect so we spent most the day outside.

Verdict’s still out on it for me. If it was my only 39 I’d probably be smitten but I’ve a NF Camel bone and an older Sheffield Jack. Both knives stir the Fiz in me good and proper, but this one? Meh, this is why I’m doing the challenge, to see if I can imprint myself on it and vice-versa.

I had one of these when they came out last year and regret letting go of it.
IMO these 39's were easily the best pattern released last year.

I dipped out the challenge for a short while today but I’ll be picking the beaver back up tomorrow.
How easily I take to it then should be a good indicator!?

Big oof today. Someone asked to borrow a knife to cut something. Immediately reached into the pocket for the trapper about to ask what he needed cutting. But instead he cut me off with:

You don't have a better knife?

Ouch, my guy. Never did find out what needed cutting. And I'm only old enough to be his father, thankyouverymuch. No cussing under my breath as I walked away. Maybe.
