Kw manix 2 c.f./ cruwear

I can never catch up with Spyderco there's never a Spyderco that I'm not wanting

Ha! Ain't the truth. They've been putting out some amazing knives lately, and still have many more coming up. I'm gonna have to start limiting myself to 1 Spyderco a month. I think this Manix'll curb that niche for a long time, though.

Yuup, and the shamans coming out soon too. Then there's the little native with a compression lock which is a no brainer and the maxamet pm2 which is another must have. I'm still mulling over the cutlery shoppe orange s90v which is interesting especially cuz the price is so damn enticing. Oh yea I want a lil temperance III TOO! even tho that knife is a tiny bit expensive for what it is imo, I still need one. So yea I feel like a junkie sometimes haha

Hey, did you get an email from Knife Center yet? I've been looking and looking with no such luck. Tried checking my order on their site and it's not seeing anything. I was expecting it to be shipped today, since I bought it late last night. Curious to see if they got back to you or not.

They haven't emailed me but I checked the site and there's a tracking link to usps and it says my stuff shipped at 1 today

No way! I'm not getting anything from it. I tried to track mine but it's not showing up. I got an email saying something like "web reference received", but it's not doing anything. I've been checking all day.

I did it all as a guest, at least I think so. That was my first time ordering from Knife Center. I'll give it a shot, though.

I'm sure they got you covered today all these online knife dealers are pretty on top of their shipping. Like I said I haven't gotten an email yet either I had to go on my account at knife Center so maybe their emails didn't go out today or something but I'd be highly surprised if they didn't ship your knife today they're pretty on top of that stuff like I said

I sent them an email to see what's up, I'm guessing they shipped it I just didn't get a tracking number from them. I got a response right after I bought it, and at 5:23 I got a promotional email from them, so if I'm getting a promo email I'm sure it all went through.

That's actually why I was asking. I was surprised I didn't get my tracking number yet. I'm not super worried about it, more or less curious as to why nothing came in. Thanks for letting me, though haha.

Edit: Well holy crap. 5 minutes after asking you, and sending them an email, my tracking number comes lol. Now I'm gonna have to email them again and say "hey, I'm super impatient so please disregard my earlier email".

Ahh.. Well thanks again, haha.

Alright . where you live at? I'm in arizona, knife center in Virginia so that's about as far as you can be usually takes 4 or five days. What state u in?

I'm in Pennsylvania so I'm curious as to how quick it'll get here. Shouldn't be too long, I went with free shipping so it should be normal USPS priority. I know from Blade HQ(Utah) and Knife Works(Louisiana) I got both of my knives in exactly 2 days from priority. That really surprised me.

I actually understand what you mean. My Sage 5 did the same thing, in certain light it lit up like a Christmas tree, haha. Really sweet looking and all the stock pictures out there just didn't seem capture it.

I'm just glad they still had some in stock, I was starting to get worried I'd be just a bit too late to the party.

Glad you were able to pick one up. I was thinking it would be the same CF and look that the PM2 CF M4 had, but was pleasantly surprised. I like the look and feel of the Manix CF over the CF PM2 that I have. I just love this knife. I've been on a Manix buying spree lately. I know the PM2 has a bigger following, but I prefer the Manix 2. I think it looks and fits my hand much better.

This'll be my first Manix. I've handled the lightweight version and while it fit my hand great, I found out the hard way I just can not get passed Spyderco's FRN. The pattern doesn't feel good to me.

What really convinced me on this was my Domino. My Domino has thee best ergonomics for my hands, and the Domino is a slightly shorter Manix 2 so I should be set up great. I love my PM2, but when ergo's are concerned, my Domino kicks it's gluteus maximus.

It should show up tomorrow from what tracking says, I'm pretty excited to get this into rotation. I've been hording cardboard to burn since I ordered it to give it a proper workout once it comes in, haha.

That's good that you won't have to wait until Monday for the knife. I hate when that happens.

I think people either love or hate the FRN handles. I didn't like them at first, but they grew on me. This version will be more substantial in weight and very solid feeling, of course.

This is my first experience with Cru-Wear. I know it isn't stainless, so I put a drop of oil on each side of the pivot for good measure and wiped the blade with a Tuf-Cloth. Now I am just going to use the heck out of it and see how the blade holds up regarding corrosion.

Funny enough, I love the "plastic" handle on my Benchmade, but I just don't like Spyderco's bi-directional FRN.

The weight is something I know I won't mind. I carried a ZT 0566cf in my pocket and that's like a mini brick and it didn't bother me.

From what I was reading CruWear is pretty darn corrosion resistant. Much more than other tool steels, which is great for a folder. It's even tough to force a patina or at least that's what others have said. I live in a pretty humid area so I wouldn't want O1 in a folder.

If I did have to change something I'd want a black clip on it, I like silver hardware, but a black clip would really set it off.

@NSBFL

You convinced me, haha. Ordered mine tonight. I swear I have the patience of a 5 year old, haha.

So thank you, and thank you J Johnny brown your thread pushed me just far enough over the edge to get one myself. Should be fun.

Did you get that manix yet? Mine's not coming till tomorrow at least that's the estimated delivery. Make sure and post a pic when you get that puppy

It's just my luck, the estimated delivery was for today, my package arrived at the right spot at 9 am yesterday(the normal destination center), and for some reason they sent it out almost 3 and half hours away in the wrong direction to a different destination center. I'm hoping they get it back on track, but I'm betting I'm stuck waiting another day.

Ain't that just great, haha. We'll get em' at the same time, even though I'm only about 3-4 hours from Knife Center, and you're maybe 1,600 miles away from it, lol.

Ahh.. Oh well at least we'll both get them, hopefully, haha.

My wife hates the Spyderco FRN handles. She says it feels like it's biting into her fingers when a bit of force is used. I've never tried Benchmade's plastic. The only Benchmades I have are G10 and CF handles.

I don't mind the weight, either. I have the ZT 0456 and 0456BW and love them. A lot of people say they are too heavy, but I like the heft.

I've also been reading up more on CruWear and I think that as long as a little common sense is used, it should be a great blade steel.

You can order the black clip and screws from Spyderco's store if you want them. If I remember correctly, they aren't very expensive.

Sorry your knife is taking a very long and unnecessary round about trip to get to you.

I would actually have an extra black clip if I would have thought to take it off my Domino when I sent it in for a tune up. They replaced the old one, which was literally perfect(no scratches, I know, I know.. impossible!), haha. I was kicking myself when it returned with a new clip and my old one disappeared, though they did an absolutely incredible job concerning my Domino so I couldn't stay mad at Spyderco.

Now CruWear seems like the perfect middle man. Insane toughness, great edge retention, and really good corrosion resistance(for a tool steel at least). I actually expect it to be somewhat similar to CTS-XHP, which I may be way off, but they were both destined to be a improved version of D2(XHP going in the stainless direction). I've read good things about it, and I'm pretty pumped to give it a whirl. If it was in the PM2 platform, I may have passed on it(plus it'd be like 40% more expensive), but the Manix should carry that steel amazingly.

And I appreciate your sympathy, haha. As long as it comes tomorrow I'd be happy, but if I have to wait through the weekend I'd be kind of annoyed. Shite happens, so now all I can do it wait.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that Benchmade's Valox(I think that's what mine is) doesn't bite into the skin like Spyderco's FRN. I actually know exactly what you wife means. Granted all I own from Benchmade is their Ritter mini, but I could squeeze it with all my might without that issue. It's because it's a little more rounded and the texture is smoother than Spyderco's.
