Kw manix 2 c.f./ cruwear

Just a little update. Was concerned that the steel isn't stainless. Decided to say heck with it and carry the knife anyway. It does no good sitting in a drawer.
Yesterday was 95 out and very humid. I hate hot weather. I sweat when it gets above 75. I'm one of those weird guys you can see shoveling snow with shorts on and no coat, I just don't get cold easily.
Well, the blade is still free of any corrosion at all. I am very happy. My worries were put to rest. It's going to be like this all week and it will include some thunderstorms. I'm going to carry it the rest of the week and then report back if anyone may be interested.

I've been selling off and giving away a lot of my knives and one of the last six that I will never sell or give away is the Spyderco Manix 2 CF S90V ... it's that good a knife with phenomenal steel. Great design, lightweight, fairly compact as far as blade design goes. I remember paying only $179.00 for it when it was released... back in 2008 or 2009 or there abouts. One of my best purchases... ever... rivaling the very early purchase of a Benchmade 710 M2 for only $118.95. I still have the box for this one and this too is a classic keeper.

This has been at my side since I've gotten it. Took me a little longer to get used to the CBBL than I expected. It was a wee bit stiff, and I have smallish hands, but now I can open and close without thinking.

I'm completely blown away by how well made this knife is, though. Spyderco kicked ass with this run.

Johnny, if you can't figure it out I'll try to explain it. It took me a while to learn it myself.. I use imgur to get copy the image code.

DRL, I'll be interested. I'm curious as to how CruWear will hold up to daily carry(that's how I'm gonna be doing it, unless it's raining then my Domino will take over).

Alright thx fellas, ill try the whole picture hosting site then when I'm bored. Yea agreed, this manix is beast for sure. Like I said I forget the action on the g10 ones, I'd imagine it's the same because the scales don't really affect the action, but this one is silky smooth. They turned out an awesome run. Might have to pick up the next one they do with the composite blade later this year just from a collectors standpoint. Same configuration just different steel. I forget, but I think it's 154cm and s90 composite. Sounds interesting for sure. The action is very refined feeling on this thing. Right outta the box it was yummy yums. Couldn't stop opening it. Love the bbl, I could go on but yeah I love this thing. Its a steal at $165.00 imo. Super glad I bought one

A couple pictures of this beauty. Holding up really well and is a joy to use. Absolutely no change to the metal of the blade. Still looks like brand new. I have noticed that the more it is used, the carbon fiber has more grip to it. Not a drastic change, but noticeable. Less smooth of a texture. I like it.

Got mine a few days ago. I know I'm going to use it at some point....but damn!!!.....I just can't stop admiring and fondling it!! Silky smooth.....beautiful carbon fiber scales.......great detent......comfortable jimping as far as the eye can see!!!

Love it!!

My favorite Spyderco for sure!! I am loving this Maxamet though, hope they start making more maxamet models!!

Yeah I'm thoroughly impressed with this knife. Hasn't left my pocket since it arrived(I miss my Domino..) haha. Haven't really given it a complete workout yet, as I'm with you snakebreaker, it's just so darn pretty.

I've cut up some cardboard here and there for burning, edge is still ridiculously sharp, so far CruWear is really keeping my interest. Seems like a perfect steel for medium EDC uses. Plus it's been ridiculously humid here in Central Pa the past week and i haven't noticed a single discouraging speck of orange on the blade.

I did, however, manage to stab myself in the thigh when someone surprised me when I was playing with it, haha.

This was my first Manix. I love it and want to carry and use it so bad but I don't want to put any wear on it LOL. I'm thinking about selling or trading it for another Manix that I wouldn't feel bad about using. Most likely, I'll keep it and just get another Manix to use

That's what I did.

My God! That's like getting a puppy end locking it in a box because it's to cute. Feeding it through a hole in the top because some day it's going to be old and less cute.

What the hell is wrong with you? Use your knife! It loves you!

I used to be that way with my knives, too. I finally gave up and just started using them and not caring if they get scratched, etc. It may sound weird, but it was a quite liberating feeling. Like getting a monkey off your back, so to speak.

I think it was on the CRK forum if I remember correctly. Someone posted something like this: "Why keep your knives in a drawer and never use them? So after you die, your wife's new husband has a new collection of knives in perfect condition?" Might sound odd, but it does make you think....

Ha! That's an awesome way to see it DRLyman. I'm going to be buried with all mine, Viking style. That way when I reach Valhalla I'll be able to show off what modern blades look like to the ancients.

Djulbert, use it, use it well. If it was made out of S90V or something like that then I could see trying to keep er' pretty. This CruWear just screams to be used. The first days/week or two I'm right there with you, after that it's time to break it in and start cutting up all sorts of things to see how it preforms(it's been preforming amazingly for me).

Yes I agree I should just use it. I'm sure I will. I carried it one day and never even used it but the keys or change in my pocket kinda scratched the carbon fiber scale but it disappeared when rubbed it with my thumb. Does CF scratch easier and show wear more than say G10?

I'm not sure if it scratches easier than G10, or not. My right front pocket is my knife carrying pocket and that's the only thing that goes into that pocket. Keys and other things go in different pockets (cargo pants or shorts) or in my backpack (work).

I never thought of doing that. That's a really good idea.

The cf scales take wear beautifully and are very durable. I'm a plumber by trade and I'm in dirty locations and use the knife on the regular, and it looks fantastic.

The other thing I wanted to say was...

CAN WE GET A PM2 VERSION?

Doesn't need to be cruwear steel in particular, I'm more in love with the scales and overall fit and finish. I want to get another pm2 but I'm not a fan of g10. Cts-xhp, s90v, or M390 or maybe maxamet?

If not a cf pm2, I'd be down for a fluted Ti integral I saw in another thread...

On second thought, let's do the Ti first. Haha

Don't be worried about the scales on these, if I haven't scratched them to $#!t you'll be fine.

This is my first manix, and I have to say it's kicking my pm2s out of my pocket daily. Looks like pure class but built like a tank. Cruwear has held up well. Now I want to buy another manix!
I agree with you. I now have four Manix knives since I like them so much. I also have many PM2s but they rarely see pocket time because of the Manix. I love their looks and they just fit my have perfectly.
