Larry Pace / berettaman12000, can I please have my payment?

Keith Montgomery said:
When I first noticed this thread I sent Larry an email letting him know that he should give his side of the story. He emailed me back and said that he didn't think he was going to respond to this thread, because he didn't see any good coming from it. So Ariel, I doubt very much that he is going to post here.

He also gave me what appeared to be his side of the story. I don't want to post what was sent to me in a private email, but I will do so if Larry doesn't come here and stand up like a man.

I'm going to stay calm about it, but it's kind of hard reading this...

"His side" sounds like I'm lying here... He won't post here neither respond my emails and he has the nerve to email someone else about this?

Keith, mind PMing me or emailing me "his side" so I can at least respond to you?

Ariel

:thumbdn: Sounds like a real scumbag! I think that he has broken the law, and should be held accountable. Stealing is still a crime if it is done via the internet, right? :barf:

I sent him an e-mail as well.He hasn't responded yet. However,if this has been done already and he refuses to post here or contact the knifemaker, than the only reasonable option is to ban him and let the maker take legal action if he wishes.Perhaps someone that lives in the same State can help the knifemaker send a sworn statement etc,and file a complaint for him with the authorities.
It is a shame he hides from his obligations but makes posts after still owing money to ask opinions about making other purchases. Then ignoring the makers e-mails? :barf: Have a set of B***s Larry, and communicate with the man.Don't be hiding from posting here either,I would have alot more respect for someone standing up to do the right thing than dissappear because he was afraid of some heat.

What's more amazing is that he'll respond to Keith's email, yet blow the maker's attempts at contacting him.

I guess this could be considered a technologically refined form of selective hearing ! :(

What an asss !

I was able to find the home address and telephone # of a Larry K. Pace in Hyden, KY.

Wonder if it's the same knucklehead ?

PS: Good ol stand-up Larry was logged on today (he logged off @ 12:51 PM). . . .reading this thread ! ;)

Larry, you're going to have to respond to this one way or another. If you try to just ignore it and hope it goes away, it won't, and getting banned from Bladeforums is the least of your worries.

If you have a different viewpoint on this, tell us about it. Or if you agree you owe the money but don't have the money on hand let's try to work out a payment plan.

WTF?? He'll reply to an email about this, but not post in this thread or contact the knife maker??

Either you owe Ariel money or you don't...there can't be any shades of grey.

Do the right thing Larry and contact Ariel and get this cleared up.

Ariel, I just sent you Larry's email.

Sorry if what I posted made it sound like you might be lying. I in no way wanted to infer that you were not telling the truth.

Don't worry Keith, I meant Larry, not you :)

So Larry, now that you're reading this thread, are you going to post or not?

This is what Larry sent to Keith when he emailed him to let him know about this thread. I don't care that's personal communication, he's trying to mud me and I will not allow this.

Hi Keith,

Thanks. That guy is something else, I did order a knife from him and recieved it, I sent him payment and then several months later he emails me and ask what happens to his payment. I have to believe he received the payment or he would have emailed me earlier, not months later.
I don't think I'll even respond to him as I don't see any good coming from it. I have dealt with lots of guys over the years buying and selling customs and this is the first problem I have.
Again, thanks Keith.

Larry

Let's take that message by parts:

"I don't think I'll even respond to him as I don't see any good coming from it. I have dealt with lots of guys over the years buying and selling customs and this is the first problem I have."

Why don't we ask Gary Graley and Tim Zowada about this? Maybe I'm the first one that expect to be paid for his work...

That guy is something else, I did order a knife from him and recieved it, I sent him payment and then several months later he emails me and ask what happens to his payment. I have to believe he received the payment or he would have emailed me earlier, not months later.

Sure, after an entire year to build my online reputation, I suddenly decide to scam him, the first customer to order a custom made knife so I can get another whole $165... In the time I lost emailing him and taking care of this crap I've could made 10 knives to sell for that ammount EACH... I work hard for my money, I don't scam people. In order to make my customers happy work twice or three times if I have to, just til I make what they wanted.

But I disgress... So to answer this particular gem even further, I took the liberty to compile the emails I got from Larry regarding payment. I'd also like to remind Larry that I still have ALL other emails we exchanged, so he doesn't feel compeled to lie again, forcing me to look up his own words to shut him up.

I also took the liberty to highlight the passages on which he praises the knife in question, just in case he decides to start badmouthing my work next.

Without further ado...

Hey Ariel,

I mailed out payment today (international money order). Please let me know when you receive it. My post office said this was the first ever letter to Argentia. I live in a very rural area and don't usually come to town but once a week or so. I'm doing better and I really do appreciate your concern. I've never met a knifemaker than I didn't like!!

Thanks!
Larry

Hey Ariel,

Just wondering if you have received the letter yet?

Yes, the post office is very, small and the parcel from Argentia was the first received by this post office. I live around six miles from a very small town which only has a population of around 800 people. Yes, living in a rural area is much better than a city. However, we don't have good medical care here like in a city. I have quit smoking (which was very hard) and limit my drinking to just a beer or two a week. I never drank that much except for the weekends, I always believed in working hard and playing hard....my problem was that I played too hard!!! Old habits are hard to break but I sure am trying, I have no choice.

I really like your work that blade is an excellent blade for small game, fish and just edc. I had rather have something else for deer skinning though. That 52100 really holds a good edge and is very easily to maintain with a leather strop. I've not yet had to sharpen it.

Let me know if you have received the letter and payment.
Can't wait to see the other one!!

Thanks!
Larry

Hey Ariel,

Did you receive the mo? Assume you did, but hadn't heard from you.
On the blade I must have not made myself clear, I had wanted a drop point, not with that much belly. I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear.
We are having lots of rain here from Frances in Fla and the computers arent' working good, so it might be a few days before I can get back to you.

Hope all is well with you!

Thanks!

Hey Ariel,

You could make the blade finish like the one I have, as I really like this one.
I filled out a form at the post office for the missing money order and they said that it would take 30-45 days for my refund. They have to try to see what happened first before they send me a refund. Can you wait a month for another payment? Please let me know.
It has really been raining here a lot and I've not been able to hunt as much as I normally do and the mast crop this year is bad, so game in general will not be abundant next year.

Thanks!

Hey Ariel,

Good to hear from you. Yes, I am doing pretty good and I have changed some things in my life, quitting smoking was the hardest thing I've ever done! Have you ever smoked?
Been doing some squirrel hunting and deer scouting. Black powder hunting starts here this weekend.
I still havent' heard anything yet, the postmaster told me that sometimes it might take 2/3 months, but they always refund. He said that it takes so long because of the large number of mo that are done.
I will let you know asap, I sure hope that it is pretty soon as I know you want your money and I need to get this squared away before I order the other custom.

How is business? You sure are a versatile bladesmith! Your blade really is a great user and the grind just adds to the cutting ability of the blade.

Thanks!
Larry

Ariel,

I always enjoy reading your "how to" threads and seeing your work.

I'm sorry to see you're in this situation. I hope everything works out.

Ol Larry isn't going to post. It's simple, he has the knife and never sent the money the second time (would venture to guess that he never sent it the first time around).

And, it's evident that he's been blowing Ariel off since day one.

Larry Pace is a REAL stand-up person !

Larry,Alot of people are members of all different kinds of boards, not just knives. It is a small World, and I can predict very few people ever dealing with you again. We have all your personal information to warn others anywhere on the internet. This could have been worked out a number of way's even if money was tight, but you opted for the easy coward way to handle your business.

Larry,
If you really want to end this, send me the knife, and I'll pay Ariel for it.
I've got one of Ariel's knifes, and I'd love to have another.
If you're short on change, I'll even send you a pre-paid box to send it in, and then I'll pay Ariel what he deserves.
It's a no-lose situaton for you.
PM me or email me and make something happen here instead of dragging this out.
Howard

Does Larry have the stub or other record from the money order? Somehow I doubt it but he could redeem himself this way. Scan it and post it.

WHY WASN'T A CLAIM FILED? Larry, if you sent the payment and he claims that he didn't receive it, why didn't you file a claim with the post office? That should've been resolved a long time ago and you could've resent.

Here is what I don't "get" this has been going on for a yr and Larry received
the blade otherwise why would he praise it as a great "user".

Ariel has been more than patient with him and larry has been going along
with ariel which is strange if larry planned on robbing him.

If anyone wants to get to the bottom of this call the local PO and find out
what the PO says about shipping times and dispute times. And Larry's
silence on the matter isn't helpful at all.

Just call your local post office and see what they say.

Ariel has been waiting for a year before he posted and when he finally did
larry didn't have anything to say...........you decide but I think my opinion
is fixed.

What a clown. This guy needs to step up and make this right, but he lacks the spine to even post a reply. Everything in this thread points to Larry being at fault and unwilling to resolve this situation.

LongRifle kind of says it all for me also Ariel. I've been looking at your work for quite a while and thinks is outstanding.

I'm going through the same situation myself now (not with this guy but another class act) and he won't pay up either. And I'm only talking about $33
not the large sum your being cheated out of.
I don't understand people.
For the most part the knife world is full of good honest people, both sellers & buyers. This is the only problem I've ever had.

I hope you get your money.
Good Luck

What. . . . .still no comments Larry ?

I'll even wager that he still hasn't communicated with Ariel via e-mail to resolve this.
