Larry Pace / berettaman12000, can I please have my payment?

This is enough to drop mail fraud charges on his ass, isn't it? That name sounds really, really familiar to me. I think I may have had a good dealing with Larry at some point in my 6 year Bladeforums tenure, but I have no idea what, when or even if I did in the first place. Nick and Burch really got off easy. Sorry to hear you got screwed, Ariel. Couldn't have happened to a nicer, more sharing knifemaker.

I guess I am a sick puppy. If I stole something I would have to throw it away. All it would do is remind me that I am a friggin' thief.

That means you have a conscience and ethics. Only in the world of people like Larry would that be considered sick.

I went back to all of my old posts and realized where I knew Larry in KY from. When I started making sheaths for other people (had to burn up a good number for myself before they were good enough to sell), I sent a free one to Larry for his Sean Perkins Kerver. So, he has my first ever "commercially available" sheath. :(

Gentlebeings, Larry Pace aka berettaman12000 is no longer a member. Please join with me in singing:

And hopefully the other knife related forums will follow suit and Ban him from their forum also.

A thief who likes knives is still just a thief...................................

Ariel, I think you are a great knife maker and a great guy, I think everyone here knows your not going to rip anyone off, you just work too hard to show what a great maker you are, and anyone that has worked as hard as you have to show this is not going to rip a man for this kind of money, no doubt about this.

I'm sure you agree with this statement, IMO, all the knifemakers/artist on these forums are equally hard working and honest, you just can't be anything else in this business.

No matter what problems (unless he's bad sick or dead) the person had that made the deal with you, he should have at least told his story to you by email, he should not expect any kind or positive words from people on these forums if he does not email you and try to "at least" explain his side, and preferably pay what he owes, whatever that may have been.

I think he may realize there is no easy way out of this hole, but again, one email to you with an agreement to make things right with you would probably make everything end. Of course I could be wrong about you, but I don't think so, even as far as this has gone, I still think as long as he made it right with you, it would be ok.

These are just my thoughts, it's a shame for this to go this far, especially with one of our forums prized knife makers. Maybe he will still make it right, I sure hope so. :(

Robbie Roberson :)

not to say i dont wish that the thief in question be drawn and quartered, the maker did send him the knife, unless there was a contract between the 2 imho there is not a criminal issue (ie stealing by the definition of law, not neccesarily what is right/wrong)to be pursued. perhaps a civil issue?? maybe. people like this gen'ly dont care about things like that and dont have any real assets anyway. of course i know that this is totally wrong and sucks, and that the guy flat out stole the knife.

hate to hear about things like this, it really sucks. hope ya get some kinda satifaction in this matter.

Robbie, there IS a very simple and easy way out of this hole:

$165.00 plus shipping!!!!!!!!

Had he told me that he ran into some financial troubles, I'd wait another year if I had to... Problem is he just ignored me and then tried to lie about it on his email to Keith.

I will not try to prosecute him or have someone call him, I'll just write this off and a valuable experience and move one.

Thanks again for the kind words and support :)

Regards,

Ariel

Glad to see Larry Pace gone. Anyone that would do what he did doesn't belong on BladeForums.

And glad to see other Forum taking similar action!!!!

We knifeknuts gotta stick together and weed out the scammers:grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:

Sorry to hear about your troubles Ariel. IIRC that knife plus my blue jean micarta criollo with hammer marks on the blade were your first online orders.

I think everybody has gone through an unexpected rough patch and found it hard to fulfill their end of a deal. Hell, I went through this myself just recently. However, a MAN will admit his mistakes, apologize, and make good on his end ASAP. I don't know why that's difficult.

I'm with chiro, seems like a small town PO would be interested in looking into mail fraud charges, ditto the local sheriff.

If he lived here he would be cuffed and stuffed by now. You could bring charges using multiplke theories and be guaranteed a conviction. Theft by Deception, Theft by Unauthorized taking and Theft of Services all fit and there is no doubt he "Knowingly" committed this act.

And his flight from BFC is an indicator of guilt!!!

Hell, he is guilty. Let's just go find him and handcuff him to a tree for 30 days after he has made restitution!!!

Hopefully your case pans out, Larry was the only person that I've ever gotten a bounced check from, surprised me, it took a while to get a money order from him but, it did arrive. What was distressing is that the knife I made the sheath for was a Tim Zowada fixed blade, a long time ago, and when I contacted Tim to compliment him on his knife, he said he wished I had kept it, because Larry still owes him for the knife and to this day I don't know that he's made good on that debt yet...:(

Tim tells me that Larry never did pay him, so it seems that thievery is how Larry Pace puts together his knife collection. What a piece of fecal material this guy is.

A small town PO? Why not file a complaint with the Post Office and have the
Postal Agents decide if this is fraud or not?

There is also a darker angle if one wants to speculate based on opinion.

Maybe this all happened because it was reasoned that Ariel as a resident
of a foriegn country can't practically file a criminal complaint? Now that is
just a opinion based on a opinion but it does follow if other US dealers
were having troubles with someone paying if that someone went overseas
were they didn't know that, they could purchase without paying. IMO.

I don't think him being from another country has anything to do with it. Larry is just a thief.

Larry is just a thief.[/QUOTE]

And looking for new victims....err I mean looking for new suppliers. IMO

What a complete and utter POS.

At least everyone knows it know.

What really gets me is that he watched this entire thread progress, post by post, people calling his character into question, calling him a liar, a thief, and a cheat, and he didn't even have the guts to speak up for himself.

In my opinion the lowest type of man. A cheating thief, and a coward.
