http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=7&article_id=1206&page_number=2Road & Track said:Just by looking at the performance numbers, the Subaru Impreza WRX STi can really be classified as a sports car. Its 0-60-mph acceleration time of 4.9 seconds and 13.3-sec. quarter-mile clocking rival and beat many purpose-built sports cars like the Acura NSX and Porsche 911 Carrera. In the handling department, the Subaru circles our 200-ft. skidpad pulling a respectable 0.88g of lateral acceleration. Through our 700-ft. slalom, the WRX STi turns in an impressive average speed of 68.4 mph that is quicker than the Corvette, and on pace with most Ferrari or Porsche sports cars.
On the track, the Subaru loves to be tossed around. Its all-wheel drive keeps all four tires working to find grip and inspires confidence. Its rally-inspired lightning-quick steering feel coupled to a capable suspension package lets you dance through the corners with absolute agility and poise. The 300-bhp turbocharged flat-4 powerplant is always ready and willing to serve up power when you dip your foot into the throttle.
http://www.carcraft.com/roadtests/977/Motor Trend said:Preliminary performance estimates from Pontiac for the Ram Air WS6 Firebirds place these cars right in there with the world's best when it comes to outright numbers. Non-Ram Air WS6 cars have already run times in the 13-second range down the 1320. In fact, a standard LS1 Trans Am ran a stellar 13.4-second blast at 107 mph for Motor Trend in its Sept. '97 issue. If the Ram Air is just a tiny bit quicker, then you can be sure that little else in the American performance car arena besides a Viper or a Corvette will touch a WS6-equipped Firebird. Other performances generated by that MT test car include 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds, braking from 60 to 0 mph in a scant 114 feet, and hugging the skidpad with .87 g of grip.
Well, that was misleading on my part. I didn't mean true Rally anymore than Trans Am is true race ready. Only that the WRX and Evo are born from the WRC series.rally cars are far from stock.
ahh well, at least your flexible, and friendly.
I thought vette's had solid rear axles until the early 80's? I could be wrong as I am more of a Ford guy.[/QUOTE said:nope take it from a Corvette guy, split axles from 63 to present unless someone modified for drag racing by putting in a solid axle.
On the other hand Chevettes were all solid axles![]()
I'll still take the '06 ZO6 any day. 10.8's out of the factory? and still full of luxury? I'm good with the vette.I'm not sure any ferraris or lamborghinis are even running that. (and i KNOW porsche isnt. though its sad to see, porsche was my favorite car company for forever. i still love an older 911 too. sexy cars)
yea, to a point lol. i love cars. i work on em regularly, and race regularly. its a great adrenaline rush. to see your hard work pay off on the streets, is very rewarding.
drag radials are just a better tire thats all. bone stock to me, is not even opening the hood. not even a chip, air filter, exhaust nothin. and if that guy can do 10.8's WITH a misshift, then its totally possible. all it takes is some good practice. (im not saying its not possible) but i havent seen another factory car go that fast yet. that corvette is just fast.
