Let’s talk integrals!

If you've anodized these before you may already know but we knives use cheaper Chinese sourced titanium and will anodize different at the same voltage as usa grade 5 ti. Not something anodizers like.

Oh that was you who chimed into the lengthy Insta debate o_O:D , I didn't know about that and I am surprised it barely seems to be mentioned around here.

Yeah I kinda kicked it off (captainsewerrat on IG) ;) like I said there, if they are actually lying about the Ti they used it would be pretty bad. If it's a norm issue "Chinese Grade X = American Grade Y" it should be addressed but it would be excusable I think.
Its false advertising imho. Saying it's 6al4v-titanium when it's not.

Definitely. It should be what's on the label. As I said there, if they start skimping there, who's to say it's not in blade steel next. Since it's quite hard to proof for the average knife buyer/enthusiast. I wouldn't know how to go about testing a knife if say it's labeled M390 but is S35VN or RWL34 for example.

Tru. We have seen that there m390 has been imported from the USA via vlad two years ago. And it does perform well via Peter from Cedric Ada. But the ti doesn't anodized like usa grade 5 and it's chalky and not the same as USA grade 5.

Giant mouse got called out on this too. Cause it was advertised as 6al4v-titanium. When they asked the manufacturer they were told they use 6al4v for lock side and Tc4 for show side to save costs.... But left out that info to everyone they do business with. Which is WRONG. Viper knives does them. Iirc they said they could do them in all 6al4v if asked to for added costs. Pretty shady if u ask me. It seems these companies don't care.

This just adds to the reasons I hesitate on any decent Chinese knife. The thing isn't that I trust others more but I fell that they are more likely to actually care and/or easier to be made accountable.

I actually noticed that on the Zeta, the Ti definitely felt different, I assumed it was because of the way it was treated rather than the grade it had. It felt...like you said chalky, unpolished in a way.

How does Reate fit in this picture? Should we be suspect of the Reate J.A.C.K titanium?

So if they are using 6al4v for the lock side, knowing it is better for that purpose, going with an integral should guarantee the better quality eh?
I would HOPE:eek:

I can't speak on that. Maybe somebody who anodizes knives can chime in? REK Knives REK Knives ? @Rival1314 ? Of the top of my head.
And I think WE Knife has a parent company (Something Something Tools? I forgot the name, with a catalog of hundred+ knives of the "cheapo china knife" variety) , WE Knife itself has 100+ people working there, Reate is a lot more boutique so to speak.

I don't do anything other than a bronze heat ano ... Not sure about Rival though!

That's for Viper knives. Not we knives.

The problem here is that WE, Reate, and Rike are pumping out some amazing knives. As a buyer it is hard for me to tell the difference in titanium.

For example the WE 811 is amazing and as a buyer I just trust what the specs for the knife say. Is this naive considering how much detail and effort went into the 811? I don’t think so but now I am wondering...

'Let me assure you, WE use 6al4v titanium. I will upload the certificate once i received it from the supplying manufacturer.
Certification or not... It's not the same. It anos different at the same voltage as usa stuff, it's chalky and just not like it's, "equivalent". So post away, still doesn't change the facts that there ti is very different.

I was a little surprised and a bit sad when I heard that a particular dutch shop dropped WE from their line up of brands. I wonder if Henk has any insight on that or if that's too much behind the curtain so to speak.

do you mean you have formed your opinion and no matter whatever i post will change this?
Can you provide detailed information based on what experience with what knives (brands, models, numbers!) you came to thic conclusion? It's quite an accusation you make to our brand and i take this very seriously. Do realise this kind of accusations can harm our business and cost a lot of money. I can proof we use 6alv4 titanium. What is your evidence? Please provide detailed data which can be reproduced so i can check the facts!

It means it needs an explanation.
