Let me be the first on 2008 to ask

What do you mean you dont quench your SD knives in the bodies of freshly slain foes? Dont you care about quality?

Now the real moment of truth is wich one of these questions would you have asked if you stumbled across this forum before making your first blade? Dang, come to think of it I probably asked at least one. I'm busted!

"There are no stupid questions, only stupid people" ;)

How about the email ones?
"I have like really you web site. I would like to buy many things we need badly. Do you take credit cards? Please send your web site so we can order many things. Urgent."

the hardest ones to answer are like this, "I want to buy a custom knife for my father, he is XX years old. I have a piece of XXXX wood for the handle that is from his child hood. I know knives are expensive like this and I have a budget up to $75 but I hope it can be less than that. I would also need a sheath. How long would that take? His birthday is next month."

Sometimes people can be silly without actually saying much. I was talking with Charles Ochs last year at the Gator show and a man was checking out one of his very nice hawks. Now remember.......this is a large 200+ table regional show where there are a goodly number of custom makers and a bunch of purveyors and collectors selling highly collectible Randalls, high end customs, etc for TOP dollar. The guy asked how much he wanted for the hawk and Charlie told him. I think it was $375-400. The guy laughed out loud in that very condescending way that says 'you must be out of your freakin mind" Now as some of you may know, Mr. Ochs is not a small man and althugh he is one of the nicest fellows you will ever meet 99% of the thime, he apparently has no patience for stupidity. His response was "you think that's funny?" and he had a look on his face that seemed to say that he was going to bury the hawk in this gentlemans skull if he didn't quickly move on to the next table full of Pakistani treasures:D

My most asked question is,
WHERE DO YOU GET MAMMOTH IVORY FROM?

I am asked this question at least 20 times a show, or from folks looking at a mammoth handled knife I'm working on. I always look them straight in the face ,and reply:
"From dead Mammoths !"

An associated question is , " Isn't mammoth ivory banned? To which I reply, " No, They aren't endangered anymore."

The number of people who think that the sale or possession of ivory is illegal is amazing. Many also have not got a clue as to hippo, walrus, whale, warthog either. I have been flat told I am wrong and you can't sell mammoth without a permit.
