with winter coming... more moose will be seen here in ANchorage... :cool:

Do much Salmon fishing?.... what about the bears... whaddya take for the bears... big revolver... lever action?.... hey... how about trading some fresh salmon for something from Hawaii.... wait... is that allowed here?
 
6 left... we may have this in the bag soon (5700) :D

there even is a road kill sign up for moose hit/killed by motorists... helps provide food for needy families... they have to pick it up and clean it no matter what time of night

Are they good eatin?.....seems like alot of meat....

not sure... you can always pm me... i now have a .44...that is the minimum... shotgun is preferred, or balls of steel... not as much fishing this summer as i would like...

4 left... they taste REALLY GOOD... no fat, like beef... MMMMMMMMM... i bet spearhead has some AWESOME recipes

the cars are totalled and some people have been killed by them... cuz you take out the legs and they come through the windshield... Dept. Of Game calls the peeps on the list after the accident is attended to.... rought 250 -300 moose killed every year near Kenai (south of anchorage, about 2-3 hours, depending on the weather)

Do the bears bother the fishermen much.... I guess you steer clear of them... but not always the case?
 
we get avalanches and earthquakes as well
Kali..you probably get earthquakes as well considering we both live around active volcanoes... :eek:

Man, I don't feel so bad about being in Calgary, now that I think about living in farking Anchorage. I moved up here from Florida. *sigh* I keep trying to convince my wife that September doesn't necessarily have to mean "time for everything to die and the snow to come".

250 to 300!... that's alot of Moose or Meeses... or mices... or whatever... what's the total population.... must be huge!

bears are more interested in the fish, not the yo yo's... it's the idiots that get mauled... all you do is cut line (if you have a fish on) and give the hole to the bear until it leaves...

NEVER EVER EVER EVER FRICKIN" RUN.... same as moose

i'm not sure... you maybe able to search AK dept. of fish and game... lotta big game to hunt here... :D
but no women... better that way, no one to nag you for hunting and fishing all hours of the day/night

Yup... not too bad... Volcanos active on the Big Island of Hawaii... we worry about the earthquakes in your neck of the woods that send tsunamis down our way... and we're due for one... every 50 years... long overdue... kinda scary...

I've got a few friends that are archaeologists, and spend a lot of time up north in the "wilds" of Alberta. Everybody on their sites carries bear spray all the time. They say that the polar bears are the worst. They evolved to hunt not-unintelligent mammals like seals, so they are skilled at lying in wait and watching for patterns in their pray. If you are in polar bear country, you have to vary your routine so that they don't figure out just exactly when in the morning you'll be halfway between the mess tent and the outhouse...
