Any idea where I can pick up an M-14??? Loved that little rifle. Shot expert with it. I got out before M-16s got issued. Of course the Corps was always the last to get the new tecnology :(

Do you want an original M14 or would a springfield M1A do for you? I just happen to own a gun shop.

I cant beleive this thing is still going. I figured it would have died off by monday morning. Just goes to show how hard core Busse customers are. ROCK ON

Is there Much of a difference??

Yeah, help clear this on up...
What is the difference between the M1, M14 and M14 Garand (or is that an M1 Garand?). And no flames, please.

I've got (one, not sure which) in .308. Guess it was converted from 30-06?

Bill, the M14 is a select fire piece. The M1A is semi only.

Essentially the only difference.

Nice pieces for sure.

The M1 Garand came first. It was in 30-06, used 8-round "clips" which loaded in from the top, and popped out when empty. Heard that the enemy would then know, by the sound of the clip ejection, that the M1 was shot dry, and then attack that particular soldier.

There were some M1 models that came out in the past 20 or 25 years chambered in 7.62x51. I think they were called the Tanker Model.

Some M1 mods also made them use the detachable style mags, as witnessed in the Beretta BM59.

The M14/M1A was the evolution from the M1 Garand, IIRC. It was chambered in 7.62x51 (.308 Win.), and used detachable mags, usually 5 or 20 rounds. I think I've heard of 5's and maybe 30's. They improved the gas system, and some other mods.

Thanks, Hammy. I was pretty sure it was an M14, but thought I'd check. Not sure about the source of the receiver, though. I'll have to break it down and see if I can see any makers marks.

Thanks Mike. In that case an M1A would be fine for me. I rather be accurate with one bullet than inaccurate with many :)

Man KAAK went all night I guess the midnight sun in alaska must do thing like that to you
