Let's Congress

I only have a couple and this is one of them. Very elegant knife. More for carrying in a suit or tux.

After getting the Northwoods Norfolk I (finally) found one of those Winchester's too, it's on it's way. I love the pattern since I got the Case/Bose Norfolk, though until I saw Winchester called them a half Congress I didn't think the pattern had a name other than "Norfolk"

Hey Paul (pmew) - Didn't you say earlier that you had a Boker Congress on the way? Do you have it yet and if so, where are the pictures? Inquiring minds want to know.:)

Check out post 82. The boker is a beauty!

I've heard Norfolk's called swell centre congress too. :)

Modoc ED, thought I'd put some pics in for you anyway...

They're all repeats but I don't care. :D

Thanks because the link in post #82 doesn't work for me.

Very nice knife. As described by you in post #82, it is and will be a great worker for you.

Those GEC stainless half Congress are sweet Trand! I occasionally troll for the elk stag and wooden handled versions, though I gotta stop buying knives...but there is just something about slim, single spring two bladed knives.

Yeah, I've said "I gotta stop buying knives" too but I follow it up with, "Well, at least one..." :D

It's wee in real life:

All four blades fit without rubbing each other or the frame...

Here is a Case whittler on a congress frame with a sheepsfoot main:

The congress frame does work well for a sheepsfoot with more than one blade, as the curve of the frame helps cover the main blade's spine when using secondary blades, leaving it more comfortable in-hand.

This one widens out quite a bit at the secondary end, which also contributes to in-hand comfort:

Picked up this Bulldog 5th generation congress 2007, it has two sheepsfoot and two pen blades, I'm not really a fan of this setup with congress knives I prefer four different blade, but the price was right and I liked the Himalayan rams horn scales. It's my first Bulldog and the quality is top notch, tight and good snap on all blades open and closed.

Pete, she's a really looker. A beauty. Thanks for reincarnating this thread too. I love this thread.

Thanks Paul

Gevonovich that would explain the commotion outside my window, perhaps it was a pilgrimage?

Nice Bulldog Pete:thumbup: That's the first one I've seen with ram's horn like that, cool!
I'm still on a bit of a half-Congress kick and casually look for smaller ones from time to time.

Thanks Griff it's allegedly 1 of 100 that were made, it was supposed to be " new in box only removed and blades opened for picture " but came with no box. I found one on a Bulldog collectors site that was marked prototype, but that's all I really found. It was the scales that influenced the purchase, perhaps because of the lack of blade variety it would have worked better as a half congress or congress jack. Of my five congress patterns it's the only one I own that is a mirror image of blades, kind of like having 2 congress jacks or two 1/2 congress in one :-)

Next to peanut for size

Just got into traditionals, and the congress pattern immediately appealed to me. After starting some campfires and whittling some tent pegs, I found a smaller blade more useful than my bigger one-hand moderns for several tasks.

I just got this case congress, and can't wait for the rain to stop, so I can try it out.

It's shorter than it looks, but the four springs make it much wider than I expected. I am looking forward to a Tidioute half-congress, for no other reason than it will be much slimmer.

There's something tidy about the squared off bolster corners. And (for now) it's so shiny!
