Lets see some Hinderer action

Increasing the tension won't seat it more then but will put the pressure it needs to firmly hold in there...

I realized it by disengaging the lock on one with good detent vs the weak one...the strong detent was noticeably harder to push over than the weak one...

Huh. Hadn't thought of it that way.
In contrast, I have a battle black that's 100% seated and doesn't have a lot of lockbar tension.
That one flips open all the way almost effortlessly.
I have a feeling I just got really lucky with that one.

Yea i had to relieve pressure from one of mine that was fully seated...fully seated and strong lock bar equals a great snappy flipper but sore finger lol

Sorry, that was for arskrg
I was gonna send mine in when i first got it and it had hardly any detent and the ball was only in 10% but decided to tinker with it and saved myself the hassle and gained the knowledge lol

It looks like you mastered the Wicked Edge pretty fast. Great sharpening job on 2 great looking knives!
What's your address? I need to send you a few of mine for sharpening :D
Thanks, I really enjoy using it. Love how precise it is. Thinking about upgrading to the ball joint arms with the micro adjustments. Might have to open a little knife sharpening shop here in my small community. Pretty sure I'm the only one crazy enough to own a $500 sharpener. But I'm pretty sure I have the sharpest knife around too..[emoji16]

Definitely, I just tried your suggestion on one of mine today, had a similar issue with the detent ball barely 20% seated and it's like a totally new knife. And saved myself the extra money on having someone else fix it up.

The other one I had was on the opposite end of the spectrum - extremely tight. It's definitely got a strong detent but that was not what was causing the extra difficulties.

Took it completely apart this morning, cleaned it, freshly lubed it, tinkered for awhile pressing the lockbar and making a few adjustments to the pivot screw & now it flips like a dream. Still strong, so it is somewhat of a finger destroyer lol but that's its personality from day 1. What a difference. 24 hours ago I was thinking of selling it now I don't want to part with it.

That video was really helpful moral support lol I thought it was just mine with all these issues but your knife was like a twin of mine as far as flabby detent and your tinkering suggestions saved me the extra $$$ of sending it out. Spent the morning tinkering and saved 2 different ones from being sold.

It finally happened i got one with a weak detent....got that fixed up thouhttps://vimeo.com/195456985

Was there any further information on the M390 RC? I'm guessing both the non-choil and the harpoon spanto are the same.

Found a local knife dealer about 50 minutes away that still has some of the Harpoon Spantos in stock and was very surprised when I walked in and they were in the first counter. I just about couldn't leave today without one but I was curious if this was resolved. Either way I get paid tonight and just might have to make the 50 minute one way trip again tomorrow to get my first XM..

The one I handled didn't have a great detent but I'm glad I read your posts Bobby, so I'll definitely keep a better eye out if I go back to pick one up. If I don't I'll pass the word for anybody else that wants it.

So I just grabbed my XM with a particularly weak detent and pushed down on be lockbar while it was closed and the ball went into the hole, but the lockbar visibly moved away from the frame. This leads me to believe that what I originally thought to be the case is correct, the ball is not lined up with the hole.
I'm uploading a video to YouTube, but my phone won't let me upload it in HD for some reason so hopefully you'll be able to see what I mean.

Take it apart and carefully and slowly(might take a few tries) bend the lock bar. It's usually real close when the outside of the lock bar lines up with the inside of the lock side.

Decided to accent the spanto with some copper :D

Love the copper liners. I put one on my Spanto a while back but switched out the scale and liner for full ti. Might need to go back to it soon. Nice shot!

I've actually been putting off finding a Ti scale now since I would have to remove the copper liner! I love the contrasting colors between the G10, copper and titanium.
