Lets see some Hinderer action

The new model doesn't really sing to me personally, but the again, Hinderer does have a way of rendering the homely beautiful through ergonomics. I think it's good offering to have out there and look forward to seeing other member's thoughts when they get them in hand. I'll likely stick with the Full-Track as my large Hinderer, though the Jurassic does get more pocke time.

Speaking of which, and speaking of OD green, here's my contribution

Too bad she didn't tell you to bring home beer. (LOL!)

And what are those things under the knife? Coupons? 😂
Lol no kidding! Yes those are little coupons and if you save up 4 of them you can trade them for beer! Gotta love the optimism of young bartenders. Buy a beer with a 20 and get a pocket full of 1’s …just in case.

For my money nothing beats Hinderer's scale texture. I love the OD, too, and like you I haven't tried micarta yet. That OD G10 just does everything I want it to do. :)

If I had to axe my entire collection and keep just one knife, there's an excellent chance it'd be my XM-18 3.5.

I’m all about OD. It’s been my favorite color since I was a lad.

So I bought this great new ( to me anyway ) Eklipse Gen 2 that I absolutely love. I knew it was not NIB nor was it claimed to be. Seller showed the tab and also said the clip was aftermarket. Well I figured the tab clip would be a place holders until I found a stock ones as I am an oem kinda guy. However this morning I realized that the pivot and pivot screw are aftermarket. I am not so sure all the hardware wasn’t “ upgraded” I am beyond disappointed. This knife is the knife I am looking for in the utility folder category. Truth is this knife will stop the Umnumzaan desire that started this entire two year search.
Anyway anyone have any remote Idea where I can find a stock steel pivot / hardware set? I am posting a wanted to buy/trade ( tab must go) thread but wanted to reach out directly to the Hinderer community here.

The screw is easy, but the nut will be difficult. Plus it has to be lapped to fit that blade. Why do you think it’s aftermarket ? Is it Ti (as they make them in China) ? Did you check with a magnet ?

If the magnet shows that the nut is steel, it’s likely Hinderer (they changed shapes repeatedly) or made by Josh (which is a good thing).

Those blue/black scales look awesome!
That filler tab is a steel flame which is worth big bucks if you decide to get rid of it, so that’s good at least. The clip looks normal to me tho 🤔 the pivot (lockside) looks different than my Eklipse, but I think mine is a gen 3 with the lockbar insert, not sure if it changed for different generations….
Edit to add, DLT is a great source for Hinderer knives and especially parts.

I can’t ever recall seeing an aftermarket nut on a Hinderer (even ones that have been heavily modded). If it IS aftermarket, and it fits, wouldn’t a stock one also fit? Not trying to argue, just want to understand better.

If you search ebay for “hinderer pivot” you will find Titanium ones made in China. They sell, because people mess up their pivots by - say - using loktite and the wrong tools. The original nuts are steel of course.

Eklipse and XM 18 and 24 pivots are identical, except for Skinnies that have shorter nuts.

Josh (REK) made some steel replacement nuts for a limited time.

Hinderer will not sell you the original steel nuts as each has to be adjusted (“lapped”) to fit a given blade. You can see that the nut is well adjusted if the blade sits tight (no rock), and lockup is reasonably early.

Note that Emmett scale screws and nuts are compatible (except for the lapping, of course). Just saying.
