I have seen numerous blades break where they are cut out like the X (Spyderco Southard coming to mind). It just strikes me as a flawed approach when the cut out could have been in the scales, with the added benefit of the blade mounted stop pins riding in a protective groove. But better yet would be the XM approach IMHO. That is one of my favorite design aspects of the XM and CRK Zaan.

Thanks! It was absolute luck. My buddy sent me the link to the drop earlier in the day to show me the knives I missed. I opened my phone when I got home and that was the page that was up but there was a picture of an eklipse looking back at me with the option to buy. At that point there was an extreme look of confusion on my face and I bought one while calling my buddy who was also buying one.Congrats on snagging something! I’d never chased a Hinderer drop before but I’m assuming this was different than normal. From what I saw there were 4+ different, random drops over the Christmas week. I only got an email for one of them. I don’t have instagram so maybe I was just missing the announcements.
I got tracking info for the knife I scored on the 12/23 drop yesterday afternoon. The scales I bought from the 12/28 drop have not been processed yet. They were also closed 12/24/23-1/1/24.

The MEFP Eklipse scales are killer btw... I have one on my beloved Harpoon Spanto. Honestly cannot believe they're still in stock!

I can’t speak for others but for me it took several years of hunting and a super kind BF member who knew I was hunting this to land that fullered BPU, I’ve tried the drops more times than I can count and was never fast enough! That said dlt did have a drop of 3” models (which I find just a bit too small to have tried for one) a couple weeks back where they took a full minute to sell out so it certainly can be done

Beautiful! Firetac is such an elegant looking knife too, one of these days I’ll have to pull the trigger on one of those!
