Lets see some Hinderer action

Based on your previous comments, I'd say you might be overthinking things. Get the model that speaks to you! If you hate it when you take delivery (not likely), return it for something different. You can't go wrong with a Hinderer, as far as I'm concerned.
all true! ill be making a decision soon

I'd like to get the groups opinions and recommendations for my next Hinderer. For reference, my experience thus far is Eklipse skinny hollow, and ZT 0392WC and 0562MIC.

I think I want an XM-18 but could be convinced for a Jurassic. I am all about the slicer hollow grind, but I want to hear what you think about whether I should get a normal width or skinny. I do plan to use it, nothing hardcore, primarily breaking and opening boxes and cutting hay bale strings. I do definitely prefer the skinny blade just for the extra slicing performance, and while the skinny Eklipse is definitely not uncomfortable by any means, I definitely prefer the ergonomics of a fatter handle.

So xm-18? Or Jurassic? And normal? Or skinny? I guess my perfect Hinderer would be normal width with a skinny hollow blade, a guy's gotta dream.
Skinny and hollow are good for slicing and somewhat lightweight. But I think you're missing the essence of RHK if you do not try out the regular (non-skinny non-hollow) XM-18 3.5". As for the blade grinding, I'd go with either spearpoint or slicer. For the blade steel, it really does not matter much, at least to me. I don't quite understand people's obsession with Magnacut (no offense).

I think you might be right, on missing the essence of a Hinderer. Given that I have an 0392 and a skinny Eklipse, i think a regular hollow slicer XM-18 is going to be my next. If it is just an absolute let down in terms of cutting performance, which I don't anticipate, a visit to BGM or Transparent is always an option.

You are right, I'm definitely in the hair splitting/pointless territory of being a blade steel snob. I certainly can't tell a difference in practice. I'm just going to get whatever is available, I will be happy.
Get them all. It’s the only answer.
you already know :p

Noted. I called monkey edge and they thought it was offered before but I still haven't been able to see one anywhere, at retailers or people posting their pieces. No big deal, I just thought Magnacut combined with hinderer is extra cool. The ultimate American knife with the spiffy high tech American stainless. I have alot of 20cv already, but it's treated me well so no problem.

They did an XM18 Bowie and Harpoon Spanto in regular thickness & Magnacut, AFAIK. There is also an MC Project X. All three are great knives ....

Besides, 20CV or M390 (for DLT exclusives) is still a good steel .... more edge retention than Magnacut, and pretty tough with RHK/Peter's heat treat. And just as stainless.

Affirmative. I'm going to spring for the 20cv xm-18 slicer hollow this week, give it the best opportunity to be a slicer with the type of use it will see. Working finish, standard width. Might treat myself with some RHK working finish hardware and a micarta scale.

Indeed that looks amazing. The micarta looks like it would feel amazing in hand. Soft and grippy.
MP1 Skinny would be instant buy for me. Surprised to see the Jurassic get Triway hollow ground love and the MP1 not. The MP1 fits my hand better than any XM, and is a true brother the Half Track.

MP1 is badass, really deserves the triway and hollow. There are so many cool combinations I would like to see, like a slicer hollow 3.25 xm18. or a full width with the skinny blade stock.

speaking of, has anyone had a hollow regrind performed on a 3.25 xm18? would love to see the results

Apologies if this is the incorrect thread, but I have a Jurassic incoming with an orange G10 scale that I don’t care for, and I’m wondering if anyone has a milder color they aren’t using that I can purchase off them?

I’ve been looking around online and—with the exception of Hinderer’s $200+ titanium—no one has any lesser expensive Jurassic scales in-stock.
If you don't mind aftermarket, Sharp Dressed Knives has them. Haven't owned them yet(until tomorrow), but they seem to be well regarded in the knife hobby.

You need a firetac in your life with a Pete Gray monsterdisc installed and skiff bearings. It's life changing 😁

are there any aftermarket titanium scale companies that are well regarded?
Sorry, I don't have a recommendation. My one and only Ti scale is direct from Hinderer.

Midnight Sun has some really cool scales, but I know nothing about them. Also, they are more expensive than Hinderer.

That thing is going to be so tricked-out!
