Lets see some Hinderer action

So USPS teased me a bit today, leaving the last little bit off the tracking and making my knife's last leg the afternoon truck over the canal to my local PO. My "inside man" texted me when he found my package so I didn't have to wait the extra day and my beautiful re-ground XM24 is back home with the rest of my little Hinderer family. I only shot about seventy pics of the knife after supper and a few with my others, winnowing the number down to about 18.

I couldn't be happier with the work that Josh at Razor Edge Knives did for me--a beautiful shallow hollow grind in 600 grit with the swedge lightly ground to match. The blade is kinda like a giant CRK Inkosi now with its S35VN just as slicey as can be.

It's also the first knife with Josh's new REK logo on it--miniaturized and up on the flat, presentation side where I requested.

You're probably not going to be able to go anywhere at BF for the next few days and not find several pics of this gorgeously reworked knife. :D

I cannot get enough of my new halftrack, its been in my pocket since I opened the box.
Nice pic of a really good-lookin' knife. Love that color scale!

I can't make up my mind about the HalfTrack. I'd like to get a smaller Hinderer to go with my other three sizes and am kinda in-between on the HalfTrack and a 3" XM. Can you get a good 4-finger grip on your knife? The last two fingers on both my hands are kinda crippled and I can't close them, so any knife with breadth and that downturn at the butt are good, but if my pinkie's sliding off the end then not so much.

Variety's good, though, and I've already got two XMs.

I bought the halftrack on a whim and honestly its becoming my favorite knife. I have pretty large hands and am able to get a four finger grip. The pinky rest on the slanted part of the grip but its really secure. I wish I had a 3"xm to compare it to but I chose the halftrack instead. I find the halftrack feels wider than a xm18 3.5 (not sure if it acually is) and fills the palm of my hand pretty well.

The only thing I would like to see is some very slight jimping on the flipper tab.

Thanks for your thoughts on the HalfTrack, jwh720 jwh720 . I was sorta the same as you with my MP1, buying it coz I loved the red Micarta scale and figuring I'd give it a try. Now it's right at the top of my list, especially after I spent a coupe hours up North re-profiling it.

I know a couple other guys that really love their HalfTracks. I think I'll keep an eye out for one I like on Exchange.

I was hoping you'd post a pic of your knife after our back and forth over at the appreciation thread for Josh at GBU. As I mentioned there, Josh's photo of yours led me to choose that high, shallow hollow grind for mine. The big boy is probably the sharpest, sliciest knife I own now.

Your knife is just drop-dead gorgeous with that grind and harpoon. We've got ourselves a couple pocket swords, brother. :D

I happened to be carrying mine today and took that picture. Since the arrival of my second child last month, I do not have much personal time left.

Not sure if I have posted this before here. This another shot I took about 2 months ago. Josh did a really good job. I love this blade.

Damn, that's just an awesome blade, donscpoo donscpoo ! I wrote earlier that mine was like a giant Inkosi with that grind. Yours is like a giant 'Zaan. I think a harpoon XM is on my ever-growing list now.

I know where you're at with young kids and personal time. I have three boys and my baby is now 28 and a fellow knife knut. Enjoy having your kids at home while you can, Don, 'cause that time goes by wicked fast. At least you won't have too many knives to miss playing with for a while--if you're like me you'll be broke til they're out of college. :(
