They look great in their Kiwi habitat.

Great score, Robin! I'm awaiting the final report!

Thanks Brother.this is going to be one of those knives that get tracked 10 times a day :D

"Great score, Robin! I'm awaiting the final report!"

I'll post detailed pics when it arrives Charlie. It may be wishfull thinking but the shine looks different to a polished knife and the seller says it's original glaze. I'll be looking for your input. :D

Best regards

I was watching that auction Robin- If I was not at my Bocce match a snipe bid would of been placed! I have a used example shown with a Schrade Cut Co. The Challenge has the Alvord punch (empire knife Co) based on the patent number stamped on the tang.

Thanks so much for the info Paul. I had one bidder against me at the end and luckily bumped my bid at the last second or I would have missed it by a couple of dollars. Do you know if they etched all their master blades?

Thanks again and best regards

Robin

The Challenge arrived today and it seems right to me. It has the Alvord punch Pat#833146 and is full length and with original edge. The blade is full with original edge as well, the tang is clean with no pitting, only the scars of not many openings. The surface of the blades seems like the original glazing with only a few specks and one tiny spiderweb. The swedge is crisp, the kick on the master is sharp, the interior is clean and shiny. I was told that the knife was kept in a safe for over 40 years. It's pouring here today so all I have are pretty bad pics. Here they are.

Best regards

Robin

THAT my friend, is a VERY nice knife, I would describe that as unused, what a Treasure - thank you for sharing Robin - awesome!!!!

Thanks Duncan, I feel lucky to have this amazing old beauty. To be honest I had my doubts but with all things considered I think it's right. I thought I would find an old polished surface and I guess it could be but the surface looks more like a new knife finish, not a buffer job. Thanks again for your constant enthusiasm.
I'll see if I can get some better pictures of the surface if the Sun ever comes out again :D
Very best regards

Robin
