1)A pair by Terry Davis. He had a draw system like Tony Bose, before he cut way back on producing knives. Still working part-time, everything he does is sole authorship. One of the Greats, from the Oregon Knife Club. Robeson-style punches.

2) Richard Rogers - Sheepfoot HJs are rare, I've only seen one by Empire Knife co.
Beautiful hollow-ground punch!

3)Reese Bose. Hollow-ground punch - exquisite!

4) Gene Shadley. Inspired by an odd Robeson small punch jack, this one has a nicely sculpted non-robeson punch, with a lip that lays over the handle!

5)Bruce's best HJ, IMO! The fine-grained stag is magical!!

Uuuuuuuuuhhhhhh!! ( sound of groaning as one is picking one's self up off the floor ) :D

I am just having another look at those beauties Charlie...... I dont quite know how I could get over owning such magnificence - I know that sounds dumb, but my HJ's are so awesome, I carry them very very gently - WHEN I DO CARRY THEM - its a mental disorder that I have where I just cannot have ( if I dont own a user copy ) a mark on my Collectable. :o :( :)

In looking at each of Virginian's, Dave's and Charlie's I want to comment on each and everyone - but there are times I guess I should just be quiet - but it's sure hard doing so when looking at those awesome customs!

Even though everyone of them is made to use, and I test every punch on heavy leather, I refrain from carrying most customs, Duncan.

For now, each is archived to reflect the work of the maker/artist.

Heres an old Robeson im holding for Duncan...it is a BEAUTY:thumbup:

Heavy and SOLID, no play with FULL BLADE & PUNCH. I apologize for the indoor pictures but they make the point that the ol girl has lots of life in her:cool:

Paul........ THAT is juuuuuust beautiful.
I just don't know what to say. I'm sure I will have lots to share when the time comes my friend.

What a Stunning Robeson !!!!!!

A million thank you'd just doesn't cut it Paul- but let me try and start- Thank You so very much.

Beautiful hollow-ground punch!

Sounds like HJ9?
Maybe use the rope knife blade, 15 frame with a punch that lips over handle....

Those are some stunning harness jacks Charlie!!! It would be nice to see the back sides of the punch blades, and especially of that stag...

I have seen very little of Jody774's posts, but Charlie..... it's a great question - one that hopefully has you thinking- as I know I would be all over them like a Rash. ( punch would be critical to the originals you have seen? ) HJ 9 Sheepsfoot?

scritch, scratch scratch

I am in awe of the latest pics of the HJ's.....have been in Texas tending to my Mother's funeral. I have a lot of catching up on. Beautiful pics everyone.

I have brought these pics forward, and added scans of the reverse sides of the punches as requested. The punches are in the order of the knives above.
Below that, I have added a couple more HJs as well as their punch backs.

Ken%20Erickson_zps1ajgiz6i.jpg

Ken Ercikson knife with a sculpted punch! Whew!

Tony%20Bose_zpslq7wlrth.jpg

Tony Bose teardrop, with a punch he engineered. Practically cuts the hole by itself!

The punch backs, with a third one from a Kerry Hampton Cattle knife I just wanted for comparison. Kerry's first 3-blade knife!

I'm glad I caught ahold of this thread Charlie.

I've developed a new appreciation for the sculpting and engineering that goes into a punch.
Thanks for uploading the presentation and pile side of those Harness Jacks + multi-blade. Really builds up a 'idea' of how they might feel in hand/in person.

To be honest - I have a LOT to learn about punches, Hal's request sure helps things along the road ahead of me- one I'm looking forward to travelling....

Charlie what are the specs on that Gene Shadley/Robeson Harness Jack? I really like the looks of that one, it's very unique.

That Ken Erickson - nice swedged long pull blade, subtle rattail bolster, federal shield, and bareheaded - outstanding.
