  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

LETS SEE THOSE MAGNIFICENT HARNESS JACKS

I'll remember the model for the Ruple eventually, guys!!
Dave, on my "Less Carbohydrate" diet, I've gone from 236 to 208, and pretty much dodged diabetes!! As long as I keep this up, I will be OK!! It's almost a year, so I hope to keep it off, and keep shrinking!!:D
Well done :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've done the same thing. A year ago I had an A1c that came back in the diabetic range and thought, "No, I'm not going to be diabetic." Eliminated a lot of carbs without being too fanatical about it. I've lost thirty pounds and got my A1c down out of the diabetic range. So far so good.;)

Knife content: I used the punch on my GEC #29 to punch new holes in my belts :)

Nice going, Mike!! Isn't it amazing how cutting out sugar, flour, rice and 'taters makes you healthier!! Makes you feel like getting a new (or new/old) Harness Jack!!:D

Back to knives: Terry Davis was the Tony Bose of the West Coast!! It took a lottery to get a chance to buy one of his "sole authorship" knives at the Oregon Knife Show!! He saw a display of Harness Jacks of mine at the show, and whispered in my ear that he was impressed with it, and would I like a Custom-made one!! After I picked myself up off the floor, I agreed I needed one!! He eventually made a set of them for me!!Davis duo 1.jpg Davis duo 2.jpg
Terry went on to build a permanent Log Cabin for his family in the Washington wilderness, designing it, cutting the logs etc!!

Great T. Davis knives, Charlie! And congratulations with your disciplined effort at health management - your reply to my tongue-in-cheek comment has given me encouragement. Keep up the the good work! DAVID

Thank you all! Tim, David, Rob and Duncan!!:)
Terry is very careful with his details when he makes a knife!! These HJs were made 7-8 months apart, and the jigging shows a difference in "mood", but are each nice in their own right! He cuts, jigs and dyes his own handles!! The handles are all flush with the bolsters! He does his own heat-treat also.
Note the sunk joints!! The knives are very comfortable to use and carry!!Davis duo 3.jpg

Hefty Jacks at 3 7/8"!!

Here's another HJ, modeled after an Old Timer with a "gouge-type" punch! Again a first-timer, this time by Bill Ruple!! He followed the original, (which I've forgotten) right down to replicating the blade wear!! Ha ha!! The gouge works great - I cut a lot of holes in belts - all the exact same size!!:D Great maker!!:)View attachment 1326400 View attachment 1326401

If there is a vote for the next HJ, this one has my vote!

That's a nice pair, Norcaldude Norcaldude !!

Here's one from my custom-maker series!! Richard Rogers makes exquisite traditional style knives!! He's famous for his nicely-proportioned 5-blade Sowbellies!! On this hefty 3 3/4" Sheepfoot HJ, the punch is Richard's design, and wonderfully made! It cuts nice round holes very well!!:)

Very nice. I don't see many customs with an awl. If I ever get a custom made I might try to find somebody that will add one.

Darn that’s nice! Charlie, Stunning in fact. Oh to have a Sheepsfoot HJ! Imagine even a Lambsfoot HJ! mmmmm!
Glad you enjoy the Stag 3 Norcaldude Norcaldude
I think I had gathered three of those at one stage - I’m not too sure if I have a user and a Queen or just the Queen now?

Our good friend Dave helped me into the HJ1 - I can tell you when I saw that unbelievable Knife “in the Flesh” I was so taken back!!! Just outstanding. I hope you get one soon my friend.

These two are new to me.
