LETS SEE THOSE MAGNIFICENT HARNESS JACKS

Glad you use that one, @Spaten !! I sometimes carry the Ebony version!! I like the punch!!
Nice #54 Eversharp! Eversharp! ! Came from the same run as my SFO that year!!
Mine were stag with a clip blade and no shield, and Ebony with a Spear blade (two versions). Only about a dozen each were finished!

Spaten, I had a horrible experience with the Punch on the HJ9 lol, I have felt lots of Pain in my life- NEVER like that experience with my HJ9- Whew.. I laugh about it now but the Punch drove its way so deep into the end of my Finger- shaking my Hand wouldn't budge it- Oh.... sends Shivers thinking of the slow motion of that HJ flicking side to side without moving lol!!!

Eversharp, those 54's are absolutely stunning - Charlies ones he mentioned are Stunning!

Charlie my mouth is watering my friend. That Ulster is gorgeous!!! Wow factor BIG time! That’s the Ulster Punch Ulster used on their stunning Sears range of Knives!!!
I just picked up on the Bone on that one Charlie - and must go back and have a look at a very plain and small Ulster Stockman. That Bone is perfect ( as I say from My memory - so the odds are ???? lol ) Also I notice Ulster using ( what I think to be ) smaller and plainer Bolsters.
Please don’t think I am criticising that amazing HJ Charlie - I would fact secretly give my lefty for that stunning knife!

Chief! Wow- That Mammoth HJ6!!! Magnificent for sure my friend. my eyes still water looking at the HJ9! :(

Nice pair of HJs, John!! Nicely displayed!!:) I remember that HJ6 well! It's from an antique tusk I gave to Bill; the Bark of it!

No offense imagined, Duncan! Good observations about that Ulster. Please show your little stockman again, and maybe a Sears Punch??
I don't recall one looking like the Ulster?!

Charlie Sir...
I have often wondered why there is not a foot-in-mouth Emoji we can use- because I certainly would use it now.
I loked at the shape and size and thought " oh yep" thats the Punch I have just ben dealing with - not concentrating just how High, Thick and Curved that Punch Wall on yours really is ( now looking for the " Hanging Head in Shame" Emoji )

Fail 1, Charlie - looking closer that lovely one of yours has a pure ending of the wall on the Punch - and the walls are thicker and rounded! Man big differences here Charlie the "slanting" - or 45 degree ending of the side wall of the Punch? and the outer side wall isn't rounded like yours - my apologies as I thought these Punches above were the same.

Fail 2 ,I think I failed again miserably going by memory of the Bone Charlie ( I did warn you ) - Ulster built Stockman.

As "they" say Duncan, Close, but no cigar!!:D
Thanks for the reference material!! I still say your memory is better than mine!!:(;)

Nice trio, Mark!!

:)lol. Charlie - no way - what you have forgotten my friend I could never learn but thank you for letting me down extremely kindly!
What is it with this World of Punches that Varys so much!!!!

I just cannot believe how nice that HJ is.

Hasnt Mark got some nice ‘uns !!!

Thanks Duncan, I had unexpected help here and I can't thank the kind gentleman too much. I must admit I'm really drawn to the sleeve board/tear drop HJs as the lines with punch open just flow and flow! As a professional archaeologist I often spend hours looking at artifacts … sometimes just people's left over junk. Once in awhile I get to spend time analyzing "arrowheads" … projectile points in professional terms. Its amazing, you can look at hundreds of them...some are clearly made by someone with average skills, others maybe by a young person learning to knap...and then you see that work of a master...the flakes carefully removed in beautiful patterns...the lines just flow and flow!!

Wow...now I know the "eologist after your name! What an interesting life you must have led my friend.

If asked? I honestly could not tell you my favourite HJ, I love all of them- I really do- I am like a kid come time I can get to my knives and get them out - and maintain them with wax etc- each time I do- and I say this honestly - especially my older HJ's, I pick up something from them I never knew before because I had learnt this or that a while ago - then bang! its in front of me on a Knife I didn't obviously know all about previously - I LOVE that!!!

Then...I go and blow it all out the water by saying something too soon instead of going back and checking - like I did a few posts ago, I look at the Punch and I think now..." What on earth were you thinking Duncan"

One of my favorites! Undoubtedly made on Dwight Divine's ancient equipment before the Baers and Imperial-Schrade bought them out!
Divine refused to modernize, but was justifiably proud of his products!!
Forged over pull on the punch, with no patent number; smaller 3 3/8" Jack with unusual jigging.
I like a nice patina on a knife, but I like Mint also!!:DUlster DD .jpg Ulster DD 1.jpg Ulster DD 2.jpg Ulster DD 3.jpg Ulster DD 4.jpg
