That’s a unique shield on that one. How many different variations of that first harness jack were there Charlie? I know mine is one of them too but it has the standard shield I guess and a single worm line instead of a split one.

Upon closer scrutiny I’m pretty sure it’s just really dark brown, which was the original color. After speaking with the vendor I got it from he is sure that it is black bone and came that way from the factory.

I am embarrassed!! I didn't notice the shield!!!
That is a parts knife, sf!! They were never made with that shield!!
400 were made with the "keystone" shield only!!

This is the shield they were made with!!
As far as I know, Bill only made 400, and never made any other brands, nor knives.
Someone rehandled one of my HJs, or someone at Queen found some leftover parts, and made one!! Yours that is!! And the technician or rehandler, used a Schatt and Morgan Shield!!

The right number of harness jacks is always 1 more than you have currently. Actually I think that’s actually true with knives in general.

I don't know when that Queen DFC HJ was made or the F&F DFC purchased Queen in 2012
When Bill was with Queen when Charlie's HJs were made the F&F on all 3 HJs 1, 2 and 3 were as good if not better then any GEC knife
Hope you find one of Charlie's HJs they are the best

And my wife who doesn’t understand my knife collection obsession mentioned this weekend she wishes she had another notch in one of her belts as it’s too big now. Hahahaha, I’m like, I have a knife for that, pulls out the HJ and makes a whole.

Some time after Bill Howard and Ken Daniels parted ways as partners in Great Eastern, Ken bought out Queen Cutlery. Unfortunately Queen ultimately went bankrupt after a painful slide downhill!! Ken Daniels family put together all kinds of knives to try and stay afloat. I suspect they found some leftover parts from my run of HJs, and made yours. I have no idea if they made one (1) or a hundred (100), but yours is the only one I've seen!!
I suspect it is more rare than the ones I had made!! It certainly has a story behind it!!
