LETS SEE THOSE MAGNIFICENT HARNESS JACKS

One of my favorites! Undoubtedly made on Dwight Divine's ancient equipment before the Baers and Imperial-Schrade bought them out!
Divine refused to modernize, but was justifiably proud of his products!!
Forged over pull on the punch, with no patent number; smaller 3 3/8" Jack with unusual jigging.
I like a nice patina on a knife, but I like Mint also!!:DView attachment 1372841 View attachment 1372842 View attachment 1372843 View attachment 1372844 View attachment 1372845
That is an awesome Ulster HJ! The jigging and color of the covers is very much like the Ulster 2 blade Congress I picked up awhile back, although it has an "ULSTER KNIFE CO." over ".N.Y" tang stamp.

Maybe they are Rogers bone, David?? They made a lot of cool versions!!
And I think they spanned the "Era" between the two!!

waynorth waynorth , I'll have to defer to your wisdom on the subject Charlie, I'm still a babe in the woods when it comes to such things. To be honest I'm not sure as to the time frame, @veitsi_poika had pm'd me when I first posted my Congress and in our discussions about it he had said he wasn't 100% sure but that it may predate WW1. I know this is the harness jack thread but I'll post a pic so everyone can see what we're talking about :p

:cool::thumbsup:

Oh I wanted to add, one of my favorite things about the Congress is actually almost a trivial thing. But I feel show a masters hand in its construction, if you look at the pen blade the swedge perfectly matches the curve of the covers. Not only matches, but runs at the same height as the edge of them. Thats attention to detail imho.

Nicely made anyway, David!!:) (It just wishes it were an HJ!!:D)The tang stamp letters are the "serif" old style, so the knife goes back a ways!!

P.S. Your knife matches the time frame of the knife in post #1049, on the previous page! Same Bone and same Stamp!! Probably pre-war!!

There were a lot of different punches made by Case! The is yet another variation - a simple but effective one-side bevel, pointy blade!! Easily fits into any Jack!!

Charlie my friend, yet another beautiful creation you can be so proud of!, I am proud of each and every one of my HJ's from you- what a journey ......... SO FAR!!!

(when's the next one?) :)

If you are looking for a particular knife, I highly suggest mentioning it in your .sig here on BF (if you are active).
I've had "Looking for a CC HJ#1 and HJ#2." in mine for several months now and last week somebody sent me a message asking if I was still looking.
He ended up selling me a HJ#1 in Crimson and a #2 in Goldenroot, both at decent prices.

Here they are with the stag HJ#3 I got from Campbellclanman Campbellclanman

And what a great score that was Norcaldude!!

The #1 in Crimson is outstanding isn’t it! I actually did not realise just how stunning that knife was until in the hand!
The #2 is no different- beautiful Knife! Well done!

Thanks, they are very nice. I am very happy to have gotten the chance to buy them. I honestly didn't think I would ever see one for sale at a price that I would be comfortable paying.
The person that contacted me and sold them to me was @jeffsntx. He doesn't have a big presence here on BF but he's a square dealer.

Before I joined BF, when I first started collecting HJs (antiques!), I put up ads, and they started appearing for sale!! It does pay to advertise, Norcaldude Norcaldude !!:D
